Sival Sival slid off of Mayeth's back, then helped Shenandoa down, leaving Ckyta to get down for herself. The young Apprentice Harper looked slightly hurt, but said nothing, clambering down by herself and going to see where she would be staying. Sival decided to go and see the Hatching Grounds, where Mayeth had winged off to once the three new Candidates had dismounted. Slinging his pack over his shoulder, he headed off that way, followed closely by Shenandoa. "Which clutch are you standing for?" She asked him as they walked along. "Amaykala said that I'll be standing for Wiayth's clutch, but I think that I can get someone to let me stand for Mayeth's. After all, it does have an alibi in it, and there was a purple last clutch. Mayble there'll be one this time, too. I'm the MasterHarper's daughter, and I think I deserve the best." "Actually, it's more likely to be a shadow," Sival said, feeling suddenly as though Shenandoa wasn't all that she appeared. "There hasn't been a shadow for a while, and by Faranth, I'd love one. I"ll probably only get a sapphire, though." Shenandoa scoffed. "Sival, you're too handsome to get a sapphire," She said, and Sival didn't blush, knowing that Shenandoa cared only for rank and what appeared on the outside. "If I stand for the alibi egg, then I'll get it, and you'll probably get a terra. You know, terras can chase alibis." Sival felt close to slapping Shenandoa, but knew that he couldn't. "Shenandoa," He said, taking a deep breath, "Dragons care nothing for rank nor looks, but they will choose Candidates who would make good riders. Someone who is dedicated and not obsessed about how they look." He said something then that startled him completely. "Like Ckyta. She's your perfect Candidate." He turned on his heel and strode away, leaving Shenandoa to stare after him, and heading to his new weyr. "Excuse me," He said, bumping into someone, and realized quickly that it was Ckyta. He'd never really looked at her before, but noted now that she was tall for her age, probably a head shorter than him. Adults rarely came up that high. He didn't look to see what color her hair was, but instead strode off, hoping that she would follow and badger him. He absoloutely hated it whenever people did that. Amaykala watched as Sival strode away, and chuckled softly. "Mayeth, dear, do you think that he's good enough to Impress higher?" She asked, and the green said nothing. "Mayeth!" I think that he might be good enough, but I entirely approve of him, The green said, and Amaykala didn't understand. I don't understand what I mean, either. But I think it has something to do with the fact that he defends all of the younger Candidates, or atleast, he will. And that's what we want in a dragonrider, right? Someone who wants to protect all of this planet? Amaykala nodded. "You're absoloutely right, Mayeth," She said. "Absoloutely and entirely right." Next |
