Sumatra {Stats} {Hatchling} {Weyrling} {Adult} {Dark Moon Weyr} Wake up, wake up, wake up! We get to fly today, Sumatra! Come on, we get to fly, fly, fly! Come on, wake up, come on! The green dragon's ongoing stream of mental chatter awoke Sumatra early on that cloudy morning, and the young woman awoke eagerly, quickly slipping into her riding gear. Just so long as it doesn't rain before we get into the air, we'll be fine. Sumatra laughed softly. "That's what you've been saying for the past sevenday, silly green." She craned her head nervously out of her newly assigned ground-level weyr. "Shardit, it is cloudy. But maybe it won't rain." Through breakfast, the ominous sky remained, but it didn't rain. Not until the class of weyrlings was out in the parade grounds, with the dragons all eager and the riders in an equal state of nervousness. And then the sky cracked open. The weyrlingmaster gave them no choice but to return to their weyrs. "Just be patient, Yasukoth, all good things come with time," Sumatra reassured her dragon as they headed slowly back through the rain, despite the squealings of the other girls in their hurry to get back to their weyrs. "But there are some things that I wish I didn't have to wait for. Like this. Or..." Like seeing Kalimantan? Yasukoth affecionately rubbed her nose against Sumatra's shoulder. Nodding, Sumatra let her tears mingle with the rain. That I can do nothing about. But the flying... The weyrlingmaster is gone. Sumatra looked up at her dragon, knowing full and well that she probably shouldn't do this. But to Faranth with rules for once. Laughing nervously, she clambored aboard Yasukoth's back, and the green pumped her wet wings a few times, rising into the air The large, clumsy green would look just like a small adult green in this rain. "I can't see, Yasukoth!" Sumatra yelled into the wind as the green rose about twenty feet into the air. Don't see, then. Feel. Taking a deep breath, Sumatra obeyed her dragon's command, breathing slowly and deeply before they landed again, R'jin watching the form of rider and dragon through the rain. This pair was going to need looking after. |
