Tarilan and Jaoth Tarilan shifted from foot to foot on the hot sands, watching as the first egg in the clutch began to hatch. It split into a bronze, which was supposed to be a sign of a good hatching. "I just hope that it's a good hatching for me," She muttered under her breath. The brown stumbled over to the boy Samizal who, Tarilan realized, wasn't too bad looking. But no, she reminded herself, Baernil was her best friend, and he would be offended anyway. Two blues cracked out of their shells at the same time, one stumbling over to Rhia, and the other to Tristan. "C'm on," Tarilan whispered to herself. She was too anxious for the dragons to hatch, and she knew that. The next egg to hatch came into the world with alot of sound. The brown dragonet found his way over to Baernil, but Tarilan absoloutely refused to smile whenever he looked over at her. He was excited about a brown, the "wonderfully normal" dragons, as most of the weyrfolk put it. A green and a blue burst from their shells at the same time, and the green quickly went to Annmai. The blue, without hesitation, went straight to Erra, who cried out "Tebanth!" The rest of the eggs hatched very quickly; a brown went to Layain, and a green to Shallie (Tarilan was privately amazed; the girl had two older bluerider brothers, and she thought that Shallie would of Impressed higher). A strange green with blue wings found her way over to Werane, and two bronzes went to Boren and Maltaln. Three eggs then quickly cracked in rapid sucession. The first dragonet out was a green, who wasted no time in going to Mulyyz. Two boys were trying very hard to catch the dark blue dragonet's attention, and it was obvious that he didn't want either of them. Creeling, the dragonet tried to push them aside and keep on looking for his lifemate. Tarilan grinned slightly; the blue was obviously disgusted at the two boys, and he hissed sharply at one of them. With a delighted warble, he shoved one of the boys aside and ran straight for Tarilan, falling at her feet. Suddenly overcome with a wonderful feeling, Tarilan knelt beside the blue dragonet, helping him up. I am Jaoth, Tarilan! "Oh, Jaoth, you're the most beautiful blue in the world!" Tarilan said, allowing her lifemate to nudge her to the Weyrbowl, where the other dragonets and food lay for both of them. Back to Tarilan's weyr Back to Dark Moon Weyr |
