Wenaveth's Flight

I don't know whether or not you want me to eat right now, you tell me! The green dragon said angrily at her rider, eyes whirling faster now with a hint of red and orange.  The young rider, Fhandi, begins to cry slightly, wondering why her dragon is angry at her.  I am not mad at you, The green says suddenly, nudging her rider "playfully," but almost making her fall over.  I just feel, well, differant.
Stepping back to look at Wenaveth, Fhandi notes that her dragon's baby fat is all gone, and she is a sleek and healthy as one could wish for in a dragonet.  Then, suddenly it hit her.  "Oh, darling, everything's fine!" She exclaimed, bursting into tears and thoroughly confusing Wenaveth.
How can everything be wonderful and fine if you are crying? The green asked curiously, a hint of snappieness in her tone, and Fhandi laughed slightly.
"You're going to rise!" Fhandi said, half-scared and half-delighted.  "But dont' get too angry at me, you big lump!" She said suddenly, prdding the dragon with her forefinger, smiling broadly.  "You're going to rise soon, although not probably today, because I'm not snappish yet."
Who said anything about being snappish? Wenaveth demanded angrily, causing Fhandi to laugh loudly again, the sound echoing throughout the weyrbowl.

"What is it?" Fhandi demanded angrily of the brownrider who tapped her on the shoulder lightly as they sat down for breakfast.
"Wenaveth is rising, isn't she?" The brownrider asked, and burst into laughter as he strode over to many of his little 'buddies' when Fhandi made no move to answer.
Glancing over in the direction that the brownrider had gone, Fhandi tried to remember what the weyrlingmaster had hinted at before...  It was something about that group kept tallies of the virgin greens that they'd caught in flight.  What fun, she was going to have a bunch of perverts competing in Wenaveth's flight.
"Great," She muttered to herself, then noticed that many blue and brownriders were abandoning their breakfast to bolt to the feeding grounds, and Fhandi knew quite well that Wenaveth was the only dragon near rising.
Bolting up to her weyr, Fhandi mounted Wenaveth as the green soared down the the feeding grounds, jumping off the emerald green back as soon as she made contact with the ground.  Roaring a challenge to all of the blues, browns, and few bronzes that were anxiously blooding their kills, then turned to the meat herself.
Fhandi knew that in most green flights, it didn't matter whether or not the green gorged or blooded.  However, this was Wenaveth's first flight, and it meant that she was going to clutch.  That meant blooding, and blooding only.
As Wenaveth pounced on her first heardbeast, Fhandi screamed to her dragon
WENAVETH!  Don't you gorge!  Don't you dare do anything but blood!  BLOOD IT ONLY!
The green tore a hunk of flesh out of the runner's neck, but Fhandi screwed up her eyes and kept on commanding her dragon to blood the beast, and blood it only.
Snarling, Wenaveth spat out the hunk of meat and began to suck the blood from the first carcass.  She landed on another, and each time, Fhandi commanded her dragon to suck the beast of blood.
After three more heardbeasts and a wherry, quite a bit for such a small green, Wenaveth bugled loudly, and sprang from the ground in one fluid motion, her suitors following her as quickly as they could...
