These are the characters of the Left Behind: The Kids book series. NOTE: Some of these will be spoilers for those who have not read the entire series.





Judd Thompson, Jr.

Alias: Leland Brayfield
Currently 19 years old, dark hair. First appeared at 16 in Book 1, The Vanishings. Grew up in wealthy home. Lost both parents and two siblings (Marc and Marcie) in the Rapture. Accepted Christ in Book 2, Second Chance. Assisted in the writing and distribution of The Underground. Became salutatorian of his class at Nicolae Carpathia High School in Book 8, Death Strike. Traveled to many countries with Bruce Barnes. Stayed at a gas station for two months with Mitchell Stein, instead of going to the schoolhouse. Wanted in connection with the Stahley’s “secret papers”, for knowing information about the Ben-Judah murders, resisting arrest, harboring criminals and destroying GC property. Has been in Israel for over a year, along with Lionel.

Vicki Byrne

Alias(es): Jackie Browne or Vicki B.
17 years old, red hair. First appeared in Book 1, The Vanishings, at 14 years old. Grew up in a trailer park. Lost both parents and two siblings (Eddie and Jeannie) in the Rapture. Accepted Christ in Book 2, Second Chance . Attended Nicolae High until the Earthquake, when she was blamed for her high school principal's death. The Underground, an underground Christian newspaper, was her originally. idea. Was sent to Northside Detention Center in Book 7, Busted!, when she was caught distributing The Underground newspaper. Was adopted by her pastor, Bruce Barnes, in Book 8, Death Strike. Wanted by the GC for murder, harboring a criminal, destruction of GC property and resisting arrest. Appeared on a worldwide broadcast for the GC as Vicki B. in book 24, Uplink from the Underground, where she proclaimed the Gospel of Christ. Currently resides in the Stahley's summer home(but, apparently, not for long...).

Lionel Washington

Alias: Greg Butler
16 years old, dark hair. First appeared in Book 1, The Vanishings, at 13 years old.. Lost both parents and three siblings (Clarice, Ronnie and, Luci) in the Rapture. Older sister, Clarice, rode the same school bus as Vicki Byrne. Accepted Christ in Book 1, The Vanishings. Attended Global Community Middle School, until Book 8, Death Strike, when he starts attending Nicolae High. Got involved with the Global Community Moral Monitors in Book 11, Into the Storm, where he met Conrad Graham. He lost his memory in the earthquake, and then regained it in Book 13, The Showdown. Helped Vicki Byrne escape from a GC prison. Is wanted by the GC for rescuing and harboring criminals and for giving the Moral Monitor program a bad reputation. Currently is in Israel.

Ryan Daley

Alias: None
Blond hair, 12 at first appearance in Book 1, The Vanishings. Mother was killed in a car accident. Father was on a plane that crashed after the disappearances and is assumed dead. Only child. Accepted Christ in Book 3, Through the Flames. Attended GC Middle School until the earthquake. Owner of Phoenix. Got kidnapped in Book 9, The Search, and met Darrion Stahley. Was wanted by the GC in connection with the Stahley’s “secret papers” and for knowing information about the Ben-Judah murders. Died in Book 13, The Showdown, shortly after the earthquake, at the age of 14.

Shelly

Alias: None
Light brown hair, green eyes. Age not known. First appeared in Book 1, The Vanishings, and then again in Book 5, Nicolae High. Grew up in the same trailer park as Vicki Byrne. Father left her and her mother. Mother assumed dead when her trailer was swallowed by the earth in the earthquake. Accepted Christ in Book 5, Nicolae High Attended Nicolae High, and then worked in the school office. Assisted in the distribution of The Underground. Currently, she is not wanted by the GC. Lives at the Stahley's summer home.

John Preston

Alias: None
Tall, blond hair. About 18 at time of death. First appeared in Book 5, Nicolae High at the age of 16. The cousin of Mark Eisman. Lost all of his family, except Mark and their aunt, in the Rapture. Helped with the writing and distribution of The Underground. Decided to attend college after his graduation from Nicolae High in Book 8, Death Strike. Was drafted into the Global Community after the earthquake and put on the GC ship, Peacekeeper 1. Was not wanted by the GC. Was killed when the “mountain out of the sky” sunk the ship he was on in Book 16, Fire from Heaven.

Mark Eisman

Alias: None
Dark hair, about 18. First appeared in Book 8, Nicolae High when he was 16. Cousin of John Preston. Lost every member of his family in the Rapture, with the exceptions of John and their aunt. Attended Nicolae High, where he assisted in the writing and distribution of The Underground. Got involved with the militia in Book 8, Death Strike. Left the schoolhouse for a short time after Melinda Bentley moved in, and then found out his aunt had died. Brought Melinda and Janie McCanyon back with him. Is not currently wanted by the GC. Resides in the Stahley's summer cottage.

Phoenix

Alias: None
Canine. White fur. Was found by Ryan Daley in an abandoned house. Helped rescue workers find Ryan after the earthquake. Vicki Byrne now owns and takes care of him. Accidentally helped GC Moral Monitors, Melinda Bentley and Felicia, find the Young Tribulation Force with the help of a computer chip implanted in his neck. Currently with Natalie Bishop at an undisclosed location.

Janie McCanyon

Alias: None
Age unknown. First appearance was in Book 7, Busted!. Met Vicki Byrne at Northside Detention Center, where she was sent after being caught drinking. Was taken in by Bruce Barnes shortly after Vicki was adopted. Stayed with Vicki Byrne and Chaya Stein. Attended Nicolae High, where she was caught with some drugs. Was sent back to NDC and then to a reeducation facility. Broke out with several others and found Mark Eisman and Melinda Bentley, who took her to the schoolhouse in Book 18, Darkening Skies. Accepted Christ in book 24, Uplink from the Underground. Resides at the Stahley's cottage.

Mitchell Stein

Alias: None
Messianic Jew. First appeared in Book 7, Busted!. He and his wife, Judith Stein, became foster parents to Vicki Byrne. Judith died, after accepting Christ, in the bombing of the hospital in World War III in Book 8, Death Strike. He disowned his daughter Chaya after she turned her back on the Jewish faith and became a Christian. Finally accepted Christ in Book 15, Battling the Commander. Is wanted by the GC for assistance in the escape of a prisoner. Currently lives in Israel, studying the Bible.

Chaya Stein

Alias: None
College-aged Messianic Jew. First appeared in Book 7, Busted!. Disowned daughter of Mitchell and Judith Stein. Attended a college in Chicago. Met Vicki Byrne in Book 7, Busted. After Bruce Barnes adopted Vicki, Chaya moved in with them and took up a job with New Hope Village Church. Her mother, Judith, was killed in the same blast that killed Bruce. Died when her father’s house came down in the earthquake.

Darrion Stahley

Alias: Rosemary Bishop
Age 14, with short, dark hair. First appeared in Book 9, The Search, when she and Ryan Daley are taken for ransom by the GC. Grew up in a mansion near Mt. Prospect. Father killed in GC crossfire, accepted Christ right before he died. She accepted Christ in Book 9, The Search, along with her mother. Lived with Vicki Byrne and Chaya Stein for awhile, before moving on to Loretta’s house. Her mother gave herself up to the GC in Book 11, Into the Storm. Mrs. Stahley was in a GC prison when the earthquake hit and is presumed dead. She was caught and held at the same GC post that Conrad Graham was working in. Darrion is wanted for knowing information on the death of her father, knowing information about the GC, harboring a criminal, and resisting arrest. Lives at her family's cottage.

Taylor Graham

Alias: None
Older brother of Conrad Graham. First appeared in Book 10, On the Run. Worked for the Stahley’s as a private pilot before Mr. Stahley’s death. Flew Judd Thompson and Ryan Daley to Israel in Book 10, On the Run. Swore revenge on Nicolae Carpathia after his employer’s death. Was wanted for knowing too much about the GC, attacking several GC stations, and for numerous attempts on Nicolae Carpathia’s life. Never accepted Christ. Was killed by the GC in Book 18, Darkening Skies.

Samuel (Sam) Goldberg

Alias: None
Next-door neighbor to the Ben-Judah family. Appeared first in Book 10, On the Run . Witnessed and videotaped the murders of Dr. Tsion Ben-Judah’s family. Gave the tape to Judd Thompson. Father works for the GC. He lead Judd and Lionel Washington into a trap, but then provided a way out. Accepted Christ in Book 18, Darkening Skies, but is afraid his father will throw him out. Is not wanted by the GC for anything. Currently lives in Israel.

Conrad Graham

Alias: James Lindley
Around 17 years old and the younger brother of the late Taylor Graham. First appearance was in Book 11, Into the Storm. Met Lionel Washington, as well as Melinda Bentley and Felicia at the GC Moral Monitor program. Never fully trusted the GC. Accepted Christ in Book 14, Judgment Day. After Vicki Byrne escaped, his commander, Terrell Blancka, Melinda and Felicia didn’t trust him. He regained their trust, and was able to rescue Darrion Stahley and Mitchell Stein. Is wanted for harboring a criminal, assisting in the escape of criminals, and threatening a GC employee. He is currently at the Stahley's summer home.

Melinda Bentley

Alias: None
Age unknown, though she is at least 16. First appeared in Book 13, The Showdown. Lost mother in the Rapture. Only child. Grew up moving around the East coast. After the disappearances, her dad started drinking. Met her best friend, Felicia, at school. She and Felicia ran away together to a drug-pushing uncle of Felicia’s. Escaped from there and joined ranks with the GC. Met Lionel Washington and Conrad Graham in the Moral Monitor program. After the death on Terrell Blancka, they traced the Young Trib Force’s whereabouts by way of a computer chip placed in Phoenix’s neck. Ran away from the schoolhouse a couple of times after the death of Felicia. Accepted Christ in book 23, Horsemen of Terror. Is wanted by the GC because she was a part of the Moral Monitor program. Is staying at the Stahley's summer home.

Felicia

Alias: None
Age at death unknown. First appearance was in Book 13, The Showdown. Met best friend, Melinda Bentley at school. She and Melinda ran away and eventually joined the Global Community’s Moral Monitor program. Together, they tracked the Young Trib Force to the schoolhouse. Was wanted by the GC because she was a part of the Moral Monitor program. Drank some of the water poisoned by Wormwood and died without receiving Christ.

Charlie

Alias: None
Around 14 years old. First appeared in Book 13, The Showdown. Helped Vicki Byrne bury the body of Ryan Daley. His sister worked in the furniture store until the earthquake, when she was killed. Seems to have a learning disability. Though he wants to know how to get “the thing” on your head, he has not accepted Christ yet. Does not seem to understand Grace and Faith. Is wanted by the GC for information of the rest of the Young Trib Force. Is currently imprisoned by the Global Community. Gets saved in book 21, Secrets of New Babylon.

Carl Meninger

Alias: None
Age unknown. Tall, dark hair and eyes. First appearance was in Book 16, Fire From Heaven. Was aboard the Peacekeeper 1 with John Preston. After John dies, he contacts Mark Eisman in attempt to get information to the Global Community. Accepts Christ in book 19, Attack of Apollyon and just barely avoid being stung. Decides to return to the GC in book 20, The Dangerous Plan. Whereabouts currently unknown.

Nada

Alias: None
20 years old, dark hair, dark skin. First appearance was in Book 18, Darkening Skies. Her father, Jamal, managed an apartment building, where he and her mother, Lena, hid believers. The apartment was found by GC. Her brother, Kasim, was thought to be dead but was actually found. She helps Judd Thompson check on Samuel without suspicion. Is a Christian. Resided in Israel until her death in book 23, Horsemen of Terror.

Lenore Barker

Alias: None
Age unknown, though probably in her mid- to late twenties. First appeared in book 19, Attack of Apollyon, along with her baby, Tolan, when Janie offered them a place to stay. Husband died from cold while looking for food. Has has some nurse training. Becomes a Christian in book 20, The Dangerous Plan. Lived in the schoolhouse until right before the YTF had to move. Now lives at her old house with several other believers.

Tolan Barker

Alias: None
Baby. Son of Lenore Baxter. First appeared in book 19, Attack of Apollyon. Under the age of accountability, therefore cannot be stung by the locusts. Lives at the schoolhouse.

Kasim

Alias: None
Age unknown. Nada's older brother, son of Jamal and Lena. Worked for GC before becoming a believer. Lived first in New Babylon, and then in Israel. Plotted to kill Nicolae Carpathia to avenge his sister's death during the Global Gala in book 25, Death at the Gala. He is killed at the Gala in book 26, Beast Arises.

Natalie Bishop

Alias: None
Female, teenager. Morale Monitor, but is a believer nonetheless. Has tried to help the Young Trib Force by keeping tabs on their imprisoned friends. Has not been caught to date.
