Kwyn Bader

Writer/Director

Although Loving Jezebel marks Kwyn Bader's directorial film debut, he worked in almost every area of the film and television business to prepare for this moment. His passion for writing eventually found expression in cinema and fueled his desire to make personal films like those of Woody Allen, Francois Truffaut and Spike Lee.

Bader wrote the script for the TV special, The Tuskegee Airmen, narrated by Ossie Davis and broadcast nationally in 1998 on NBC, Fox and ABC affiliates. He also scripted the first episode of Jazz Meccas, currently in development for PBS. Bader worked as a researcher, writer and producer on several projects with Emmy Award-winning producer Madison D. Lacy Jr. (Eyes on the Prize) including the PBS/BBC funded Richard Wright: Black Boy, and two video installations for the Civil Rights Museum entitled Birmingham: The World is Watching and The March.

Always staying true to his passion for writing, Bader wrote and directed Ms. Blues Child for the West Bank Theatre in New York, and wrote numerous articles for the London-based publication True magazine and Good News magazine based in Los Angeles. He ventured into the business side of the industry in 1996 while serving as director of operations and, later, director of marketing for Arrow Entertainment.

Bader earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Columbia University in 1990 and received one of the University's first Kluge Research fellowships. He is currently developing his next script, Fortune's Song, a 1940's love story set in the world of Black expatriates in Paris.
