BARRY COLE

Music Supervisor

Barry Cole and Spot Music stand at the threshold of music supervision for film and television. Based in New York City, Spot Music is an independent music supervision and consulting firm with more than 40 film credits, including Sling Blade, Two Girls and a Guy, Next Stop Wonderland, Belly, Illtown and Niagara, Niagara. In addition to music supervision for films, Spot Music has a proven track record in soundtrack A&R, music clearance, musical score and post-production music clearance.

Barry Cole's exceptional talent and artistry as a music supervisor is evidenced by his most recent projects. The soundtrack album for the Miramax Pictures film Next Stop Wonderland (Verve Records) has remained on the Billboard Jazz Chart since its September 1998 release. Cole, aided by Beco Dranoff (Red, Hot and Rio), collected authentic and influential Brazilian jazz and Bossa Nova artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud and Bebel Gilberto, Marcos Valle, Tamba Trio, Toots Thielmans, Ells Regina, and Vinicius Cantuaria. Award-winning jazz artist Claudio Ragazzi was hired both to perform in the movie and to write the score for the film.

Barry Cole worked hands-on with enigmatic rock personality Dee Snider for the horror/sci-fi thriller, Strangeland, released by Raucous Releasing. The film is based on the character Captain Howdy, which Snider created while a member of the seminal '80s metal band, Twisted Sister. The soundtrack, available on TVT Records and produced by Cole, contains such active rock heavyweights as Marilyn Manson and Megadeth.

His recent films include Laurence Fishburne's directorial debut Once in the Life, Hampton Fancher's The Minus Man and Nancy Savoca's The 24-Hour Woman.
