Great Depression Letter
Written April 2002

Dear Mr. Roosevelt,
My family is in trouble. My parents used to work on a farm, but between the dust and the lack of income my family had to travel to the city to try to find jobs. We did not find work.
We are living in a Hooverville, in a rusty old vehicle that can’t even be called a car anymore.
We children are going to school hungry from lack of edible food. This has a negative effect on our schoolwork. I try to find food for my brother and sisters, but I cannot.
Please, Mr. Roosevelt, do something to help end this horrible depression. Make life good again; let families like mine have food and a place to live. I beg of you, help America recover.
