Uncle Joe and Auntie Denise invited us to their cottage on Beresford Lake in Nopiming Provincial Park in Manitoba. Nopiming means “entrance to the wilderness” in Anishinabe. (Check out the web page for the park: Provincial Park. It’s a beautiful spot, with just a few cottages on the lake, and very quiet, with no high-powered motors or water toys. It’s also very rustic, with no running water or electricity in the cottage, and is a good 3 and a half hours away from Winnipeg. The fridge, stove and lights run on propane. At night, you hear loons calling in the complete silence, and the stars and aurora borealis are unobscured by city lights.
