In company with the famous James Joyce Martello Tower at Sandycove near Dublin is an international style house by Michael Scott, which was built for his own use. Scott was the leading architect in Ireland until the 1970's. His best known building is Busarus in Dublin, this was the first post war development in Ireland of any size. Amongst others, the now internationally famous Kevin Roche worked with Scott on that building. Two moderne cinemas by Scott are described elsewhere on this site. One, the Ritz Athlone was demolished relatively recently.
"I started one morning at eight o'clock and by 4 o'clock the following morning had finished the initial sketch plans." - Michael Scott on Geragh
