The partition of Ireland in 1922 made
Dundalk a border town.
On the outskirts of town are a couple
of moderne houses, said to have been built by John Mc Gahon in the 1930's.

There was also a cinema here, called the Adelphi,
which is post war, but had some art deco features. Built about 1947, it was
designed by JJ Robinson, of Robinson & Keefe. Recently demolished.
