è Did Luke Sisson, XO in mid- to late 1950's, ever serve as
CO? If so, when?
Although there are conflicting reports from the
Navy, Bashaw was almost certainly put out of service in Nov. 1945 and not put
back in service until 1951. This is
based on (1), conversations with men on board in late summer 1945 and (2),
having over 700 names on the roster, none of whom are shown as on board between
1946 and 1951. The differing dates used by the Navy are apparently just a
matter of the terminology used in various administrative records and histories,
i.e., "decommissioned, commissioned in reserve, decommissioned in
reserve," etc.
