INDONESIA: Ambon's renewed inter-faith celebration
Five years ago, Indonesian's eastern island of Ambon was ravaged by deadly
sectarian clashes, leaving some five thousand people dead. Tthe Christian village of
Waai, in central Maluku was totally devastated. The sectarian conflict is over now.
And in a new atmosphere of reconciliation, Muslims and Catholics this week came
together in an inter-faith celebration to mark the rebuilding of a Catholic church which
had been razed to the ground in 20001.
