SURABAYA, East Java: The police will question four Tuban regency councillors allegedly involved in the April 29 Tuban riots.

The councillors to be questioned are Teguh Prabowo Gunawan, alias Go tjong Ping, vice speaker of the Tuban legislature and a rival of the incumbent regent Haeny Relawati of the Golkar Party; National Awakening Party (FKB) faction chairman Miyadi; FKB member Yayuk Nurul Qomariani; and Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) faction member Edi Sutikno.

"The four councillors involved in the Tuban riot will be examined by police," said East Java provincial administration's head of legal affairs division, Indra Wiragana,in Surabaya Tuesday.

Police have so far named 118 people as suspects, the testimonies of whom implicated the four councillors as masterminds of the riot.
