Bali prepares to execute bombers
DENPASAR, Bali: The Bali prosecutors' office has completed preparations to execute
three men convicted for bomb attacks on the island in 2002.
Prosecutors' office spokesman I Gusti Ngurah Endrawan, however, said the convicts
still had the opportunity to file case reviews with the Supreme Court or ask for a
presidential pardon.
"We are waiting for orders from the Attorney General for the execution," Endrawan
told the detik.com news portal. "Everything is ready."
Amrozi, Imam Samudera and Ali Gufron aka Muklas are being detained in
Nusakambangan Prison. They were convicted of involvement in the attacks that
claimed 202 lives, most of them foreign tourists. -- JP
