Quakes jolt Maluku, North Sulawesi
An earthquake measuring 5.4 at Richter scale struck Maluku on Tuesday evening, a
report said. "The epicenter of the quake, recorded at 8:48 p.m. (local time), lays
southwest of Tual island at a depth of 33 km beneath the Banda Sea," Subagio of the
Meteorological and Geophysic Agency said as quoted by Reuters. Earlier in the day,
a 5.7-magnitude undersea earthquake hit off North Sulawesi, AFP reported. Both
caused no casualties or damage.
