Three killed in Poso riots Monday
PALU, Central Sulawesi (Antara): Fresh riots in Central Sulawesi's town of Poso
Monday morning killed one police officer and two civilians, a report says.
They Brig. Rony -- an anti-terror police officer -- and two residents of Poso -- Om Gam
and Ustadz Mahmud -- were killed after police and civilians excanged shots early
Monday, Antara news agency reported.
The incident sparked by the police effort to arrest a number of people who are
allegedly involved in religious riots in the town also caused many other people suffered
from minor and serious wounds.
Markets, schools and officers were closed following the incident on Jl. Pulau Irian,
Gebangrejo subdistrict. (**)
