On the 3rd of September, I went on R&R in HONG KONG and had a nice time. I bought 2 suits and made a real nice friend - Peter Tsha - a Chinese waiter at the Golden Phoenix. It was a lot of fun and very relaxing.

After 40 straight days in the field, 2/9 came back to Dong Ha today.
L/Cpl. Perrelli was killed on the 25th day by shrapnel from an enemy mortar or rocket.
We got hit hard nearly every day for a week when we were camped below Con Thien. (Pronounced ‘Con Tee-in’) One day, we got rockets, Mortars and artillery all at one time. I never prayed so hard!

Today, we went to Cam Lo for a memorial service for Perrelli. Real good turn out.
I return to the battery in a few days. Perhaps tomorrow…
