Bali suspect demonstrates bomb attack
A key suspect in the Bali bombing has publicly given details of how the deadly terror
attacks were carried out and apologised to families of the victims.
Ali Imron, 30, who transported explosives part of the way to the blast site, told a news
conference at Bali police headquarters that their target was the United States and its
allies.
More than 190 people were killed in the blasts last October.
Imron, a brother of two other key detained suspects, said the aim was to wage a holy
war, but he apologised to the families of the victims, especially Indonesians, and also
those from abroad.
He said the bombings were planned by his group, but did not elaborate.
He faces the death penalty if convicted.
Police say the blasts were the work of regional terror group Jemaah Islamiyah which
is thought linked to al-Qaeda.
