The sidewalks are cemented and there's grass on both sides of it. On the grass closest to the buildings, every twenty feet or so are small trees. Most of the surrounding building are homes or apartments. A few blocks down from the lodging house is where the shops and diners are, though there is a bakery two blocks from the lodging house.

The majority of the buildings are made of brick though there are a few made of wood. The three story lodging house is also made of brick and if facing it to the left is brick building, which is rented out by a family, then to the right is a small open space, where a garden use to be, then another building, this one also rented out by a family. Walking in a few feet on a cement walkway from the street there are two steps also made from cement leading up to the front door.

The door is made of walnut wood and has a brass doorknob. Inside and directly to the left is a wooden staircase which had been painted white. Also to the left is a large desk where new members sign up at. All the flooring downstairs is made out of wood except for the bedroom.

To the right there's a gray couch with foam cushions and a hand knitted green and white blanket draping over the arm rest. There's a table near the couch with a few wooden chairs around it. The fire place is also to the right. It's made out of brick and there's a metal basket where wood would be placed. In front of the fire place is a dark blue rug.

In the back there's an extra bedroom with white carpeting. It's a rather large room with a double bed and a solid pine dresser and its own bathroom in the upper right side of the room. Next to it is the kitchen. There's a gas oven and sink side by side against the left wall and pantry in the corner. Then there's a large table that sits twenty two people comfortably in the middle of the kitchen.

Upstairs again all the floors are made of wood with no carpets. There are ten bunk beds in each room. Every one with has on it a blanket and pillow. In-between each set of bunks is a small dresser for their belongings and a chest at the end of the bunks. In the middle of the room, hanging from the ceiling, is a light bulb with a metal chain hanging from it to turn it on and off.

There's a fire escape in the back of the girls' room. To get out you must go threw the window and walk down the metal steps to the ground. There are a pair of double wooden doors leading to the washroom in the girls' room, only one door for the boys'. Inside both there is another light bulb hanging from the ceiling. There is running water, sinks and mirrors. Then there are closed off bathroom stalls which make up the majority of the room. There are ten stalls, fifteen sinks with a mirror above each one. The bathrooms are on the right and there are only five wash tubs which are on the left, each on closed off from the next for privacy.

In the hallway is another door leading into and extra bedroom which had been used as a quarentine room but later became a storage room. Ransom and Penny Cane use to use this as a bedroom before they moved out and now Jared and Siren Jones use it. There is one window looking out to the city and one bed for the both of them and a nightstand as well

There's another wooden door in the hallway, this one leading up to the third floor. The wooden stairs lead to another room, this one filled with books and maps. There's two windows on each wall except for the wall on the left. There's a table in the middle of the room with a few chairs around it. There are only four book cases which are each scattered around the room. They all have books in them, though some only have a few. There's an oil lamp on top of the table and a pale blue carpet underneath it.
