Jussie's report on Team Bayside's ongoing pursuit of a finals spot

"Team Bayside" as we will now be called since it is a wanky monniker that no one else is using at the moment, had a very solid night at State League last night - second to Eastside - but if one studies the results, it probably should have been a great win.

Anyway, life goes on, and it appears that we did ourselves no harm by coming second, while Doncaster did us a big favour by beating Geelong. I say that in hope that the Geelong 400m runners didn't steamroll the Doncaster lads...fingers crossed.

Back to us...

It was great to see 'Nfa Forster-Jones back at the track and putting together three great runs, just as it was seeing Roger Moresi out there, trying to qualify over the steeple and our three 1500m runners running very competitively. Evan Rees will benefit from his first run back after a spell and we all look forward to seeing him over 800 next week. All were shocked by the inconsistency of me being given an electronic time of 17.09 in the 110mH despite my ticket saying 16.5…- I'm sure the latter was right, if you smell what I'm cooking...

Some big thanks should go to those who have been yelling their lungs out for the past few weeks, it has been great to see. It was also good to see Brendan Cole compete for Bayside for the first time. Running a relay leg and first string in the 400m I hope we will see Brendan regularly from this point.

The results from the three men's comp looked like this:
Eastside, Bayside, APS, Ivanhoe
Essendon, Doncaster, Geelong, Striders
Box Hill, Glenhuntly, West. Subs., Ringwood

This means, from my reckoning, that we are now on 20.5 points, level with Geelong and 0.5 behind Glenhuntly (who are 4th). Next week we have drawn Geelong, Striders and West. Subs so, all going well, we can win that and go into the last round battling with Glenhuntly for a spot in the finals. If everyone could get down to the track for the next couple of weeks, that would be huge.

Thanks to everyone who turned up last night, you made my job easy.

See you next week...
