Cherise Marie

This is Cherise Marie. We got her on July 1,2001. We was told she was about 4 months old when we got her. When we first got her, we thought she was a Black Sable ferret with solid black feet and tail. But, now that we have had her for a little while, and shes aged some, i am now beginning to think that she is a Dark Chocolate, or some sort of a Sable Point. I'm not really for sure though. When we went to the pet store, we just went to get some ferret food, and i had asked the lady when they were getting more ferrets in, that i was looking for a cinnamon female. She told me all they had at the moment were males, and the next shipment wasnt for a few weeks. As we were walking to the food isle, she told me to wait a minute that they had two females in the back. One was under weight so they had to keep her away from the others, and the other was in the back because she had bit a customer. After she went and got the girls, we looked at them, and she said the underweight one was not for sale until it was healthy, but she would give us a discount on the other because of it biting people. So, we held her for a while and played with her, and the only thing she bit was my bra strap. Shes a very beautiful girl, and the age difference with the other three isnt bad, so, we brought her home. She still has never bit anyone. Cherise likes to crawl on Cassidy, and play with the other three ferrets. She likes to play under our rug, and under the couch. She's a little bit of a jumpy ferret, everything kinda spooks her, so she stays hid under the couch and chairs alot. But, she still has her fun. I think Rueben is in love, he follows her around like a lost puppy hahaha. I'm really glad we brought her home with us, she seems really happy and content here. Love ya miss Cherise!

On the morning of August the 4th of 2004, the lady who lived below us in our apartment building caught fire. Unfortanantly, Cherise was one of those to perish. The firemen were able to save the bodies of all 7 that had passed in the flames. Only one survived, that is RubyClaire. Cherise was my little girl that I swear suffered from depression. She just had a way to touch your heart, and make you feel her pain. She was a very emotional ferret, but, she was such a sweet heart too. She loved to give her mommy kisses, and would run up to me, just to say hi. I instantly bonded with Reese when I very first saw her, and she was one of the hardest to loose. I promised her I would take her home and love her, and that I did, and that, I still do.

Cherise was brushing her long hair gently down. It was the afternoon of Carnival, As she brushes it gently down. Reuben was strumming his painted mandolin. It was enlaid with a pretty face in jade. Played the Carnival Parade. Cherise was dressing as Pirouette in white, When a fatal vision gripped her tight, Cherise, beware tonight. Reuben, Reuben, tell me truly true, I feel afraid and I don't know why I do, Is there another girl for you? If you could see in my heart, You would know it's true, There is none, Cherise, except for you, Except for you. I swear to it on my very soul, If I lie may I fall down cold. When Reuben played on his painted mandolin, The breeze would stop and listen in, Before going its way again. Masquerade began when nightfall finally woke, Like waves against the bandstand dancers broke, To the painted mandolin. Looking out on the crowd, who is standing there? Sweet Ruby Claire at Reuben stared, At Reuben stared. She was dressed as Pirouette in red, And her hair hung gently down. The crowd pressed round, Ruby stood as though alone. Reuben's song took on a different tone, And he played it just for her. The song that he played was the Carnival Parade, Each note cut a thread of Cherise's fate, It cut through like a blade. Reuben was playing his painted mandolin, When Ruby froze and turned to stone, For the strings played all alone. If you could see in my heart, you would know it's true, There is none, Cherise, except for you, Except for you. The voice of Cherise from the face of the mandolin, Singing Reuben, Reuben, tell me true, For I have no one but you. If you could see my heart, You would know it's true, There is none, Cherise, except for you, Except for you. I swear to it on my very soul, If I lie, may I fall down cold. The truth of love an unsung song must tell, The course of love must follow blind, Without a look behind. Reuben walked the streets of New Orleans till dawn, Cherise so lightly in his arms, And her hair hung gently down. Ahoy, old ferryman, riverboat of Charon ride, Though alive, take Reuben to the other side, For his sweet Cherise has died. It's a long lonely walk from Hell to the burying ground, Cherise may return but don't you look around, For your glance would cut her down.
