Disclaimer: <I do NOT own Digimon. If I did, Tai would marry Sora and Tai and Matt would not cut their hair. It’s very simple.

OK, this is my first attempt at writing something about Season 1 characters. It’s set one year after they defeated Apocalymon, and Tai and Sora are starting to date. They’re having a party to celebrate one year since they went to the Digiworld, but… You’ll see. ^_^

Do not send me flames, as they will only be used for the fire. DO review. I barely ever get e-mail so it would be nice to get some good ones. (turns on puppy eyes. Money falls at feet) Ha-ha! SUCKERS! >

By the way: <> At each end of the sentence mean I am speaking, ~ means Digimon Empress Mimi, and * means Batpig.

Anniversary

Tai ran down the pitch, the ball almost glued to his foot. The goal loomed up in front of him, and he kicked the ball with all his might. It sailed through the air… and into the net.

The referee blew his whistle. Tai’s team had won 2-1. His team-mates piled on top of him, as though it was a rugby game and he had the ball.

Later on, when he had changed and was heading home, he heard someone behind him yell, "Tai, wait for me!"

Turning round, he saw his girlfriend, Sora, sprinting towards him. When she reached him, she kissed him and his face burned. He turned away so she wouldn’t notice.

"You were great! The other team didn’t stand a chance against you!" Tai blushed harder, giving him the appearance of a tomato with spiky brown hair. His girlfriend’s voice suddenly became normal again and she said, "Hey, you looking forward to the anniversary tomorrow?"

Tai’s head spun round to look at her, "Tomorrow?"

"Yes. Why, did you forget?" Tai blushed again, "Honestly Tai, do you ever remember anything?"

"I can remember everything that happened in the digital world!"

"That’s not the same! Anyway, you’ve probably forgotten everything about it, we’re meeting in the park at 12 o’clock. Kari’s going with TK, so you don’t have to bother about taking her."

Tai walked Sora to her apartment, then carried on to his. He ran everything that had happened since they had defeated Apocalymon through his head.

Matt had had about two girlfriends, but at the moment he was single. He seemed to prefer it that way. Mimi’s family were planning on moving to America, but that wasn’t until next year. Izzy was still buried in his computer, and Joe was going to start to training to be a doctor in the autumn. Kari and TK were getting extremely close, and Sora kept saying that they would probably start dating soon.

Tai opened the door to his apartment. There was a smell of burning coming from the oven, so he went to see what it was. He found the charred remains of something that looked like a cake inside it. He deposited it next to the sink to cool, then flopped down on his bed.

The next day, he woke up earlier than he had wanted to. However, he couldn’t get to sleep again, so he just got dressed and went to get some breakfast.

Kari rubbed her eyes when she walked into the kitchen. Her brother wasn’t usually up this early. She wondered if it was someone else, but then they dropped a fork on their foot, and she grinned. Definitely Tai.

She said, "Hi," and he spun around, hitting his head on an open cupboard door.

"OW!" He yelled, "Jeez, Kari, you could have warned me you were there."

"But you would have jumped anyway," she pointed out. Tai looked away sheepishly, massaging his head.

"Talk about a bad start to the day," he mumbled. Kari shook her head. There was just no pleasing some people.

A few hours later, Tai knocked on Sora’s door. She opened it and smiled at him, "I was starting to worry!"

"Nope, I made it!" Tai grinned back. Sora hugged him, then the two lovers walked to the park. The first person they saw when they arrived was Matt.

"Hey, Matt, how you doing," Tai yelled. Matt looked up and smiled.

"Oh, the usual. About a hundred girls following me around, but I don’t like any of them."

The couple laughed and Matt winked. They walked to the lake together, where they met the rest of the group. Soon, they were all sitting in a circle, talking about their adventures.

"I can’t believe how long I lasted without changing my clothes!" Mimi screeched. Sora rolled her eyes.

"I can’t forget all the friends we made!" The tomboy said, hugging her knees.

"I can’t forget the time when Myotismon invaded Odaiba!" Kari grinned. Matt sighed.

"I can’t forget about Gabumon," he whispered. The others all became quiet. Kari remembered the time she and Gatomon had first met. TK remembered Patamon becoming a digi egg after digivolving into Angemon. Izzy remembered Tentomon de-digivolving into Motimon when he’d given his worldly possessions (including his curiosity) to Vademon. Joe remembered the way Gomamon always stuck by his side. Mimi remembered Palmon digivolving all the way to Lilymon. Sora remembered Biyomon proving that her mum had loved her all along. Matt remembered the time he and Gabumon were trapped in the D.C (<that’s my nickname for the cave he creates in The Crest Of Friendship. It stands for Depression Cave. Neat, huh? > *No.* <Shut up. > ~ But he’s right! ~ <It was a rhetorical question>). And Tai remembered all the times Agumon had saved his life.

Tai cleared his throat, "You know, I’m getting hungry. Who wants a pizza?"

Matt glared at him, "Tai, we’re remembering our Digimon and you’re remembering your stomach? Don’t you ever think of anything else? Do you ever think of anything?"

"What do you mean?"

"You never cared about the Digimon that sacrificed their lives for us! Remember when Mimi was making those graves? All you cared about was trying to beat the Dark Masters!"

Both boys were on their feet now, and the other digidestined felt the air crackle with a kind of electricity. Tai stared into Matt’s eyes, and saw them full of hate. He felt sadness and a feeling of betrayal replace his anger. He thought Matt was his friend.

Without a word, he suddenly turned around and sprinted back to his apartment as fast as he could. Matt was still for a second, and then he tore after him.

Tai crashed through the door and then into the room with the computer. He was lucky, as both his parents were out. Without hesitation, he pulled out his digivice.

Matt came into the apartment about a minute afterwards. He looked in the kitchen, then the bedroom, then the computer room. There was a message on the screen. He leant closer to read it.

Dear All,

This is it. I’m leaving you. Don’t come after me (if you actually want to, which I bet you don’t).

I hope Sora will find another boyfriend, as I’m not good enough. I have no doubt in saying that Matt would be perfect.

Goodbye forever,

Tai

Matt was trembling as he finished reading, then he slammed down hard on the desk with his fists.

Sora ran in, then she put a hand on his shoulder. She could feel him trembling, with rage or sadness, she couldn’t tell, "What’s wrong?"

"Tai’s gone Sora. Tai’s gone."

Lady Moon: MWAH HAH HAH HAH! Don’t you love cliff-hangers?

Batpig: NO!

Digimon Empress Mimi: I agree with Batpig, for once.

Lady Moon: Shut up, you two. Now, all you readers out there note this one thing. I only started writing this because I wanted to write the sequel!

DEM: That explains a lot.

Lady Moon: Go kiss Batpig!

Batpig: HELP! (Faints)

DEM: EEEUUURGGHHH!!!!! (Collapses by Batpig)

Lady Moon: (steps over bodies) So, watch out for the sequel!
