Welcome to
The_Loft
A page with a quick look around up here where the staff live
Highlander

Just to point out, every link is only one word long, so if there are two words in a row that are links they are two seperate links. I had a lot more pictures than ideas...

This is a quick introduction to the people you'll meet in Highlander. If you've never watched it before... you probably won't have a better idea of what's going on after you've read this...

First you watch the guys work out, then you go up the lift with them, then you get to hang out in the loft with them. See, there's a reason I like exercise, and it ain't keeping fit.

Sweaty, well built men... I mean, people demonstrating interesting martial arts techniques.. yeah, that's what I mean...
The staff and occasional visitor here practice unarmed, with staves, and with swords.

When you get here the only one here right now is Richie Ryan, but that's not exactly a draw back.

He used to get beat up quite a lot but then he turned out to be Immortal, so he became a student here. He got to hang around and get knocked down a lot and clean the floors. He got better with practice.

Duncan introduced him to sword work using a katana, then gave him a sword of his own. First he got a rather nice rapier, which he got fairly good at using. Duncan sent him away for a while, but he came back. Then that sword broke. Duncan gave him a new sword, a very nice gothic bastard sword. He's a good friend to Richie. Racetrack? What racetrack?

Rich also hangs around and practices with a staff or open handed. He works until he's all tired and sweaty, poor dear. He's getting pretty good.

He used to get set all the nasty jobs like looking after small children and tidying up. Now Richie's the assistant manager, which means he still gets to clean floors but he has a better title. That's him up there on the right. Alone at last...

Of course then the manager turns up.

Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod likes to think of himself as a warrior even though he spent years selling antiques. Of course his teacher did the same thing, and he's a nice bloke, so that's all right. He was taught by Connor MacLeod, same Clan, better vintage. They hang out together sometimes.

in_the_lift Duncan works out for a while and you get chatting. It's the end of the day so the two of them go up to the loft to shower. Duncan invites you up. He chats about his old girlfriends and losing Tessa and how much he misses her. It seems he's in this rather stormy relationship with a woman who's hardly ever there. Richie gets on all right with her too. But she walked out on them again, so now he's got no one. Aww, poor lonely Dunkie. heh heh heh.
Of course he's always got Richie. Mostly Richie and Mac hang around together when they're not working. They live together sometimes, but they're just good friends. Really. No matter what people say, you won't find any evidence to say otherwise... so what exactly is going on here..? Um, next topic...

Richie goes off to take a shower.

Then another good friend of Duncan's turns up.

guests The new arrival, who tends to go by Adam nowadays but has been known as Methos and Death, grabs a beer and the most comfortable seat, as usual.

He doesn't tend to use the dojo much, but he can use a sword.

Duncan met him because of Joe.

Joe Dawson is a watcher who has ended up friends with the Immortals he watches.

Here is where most of these pictures are from

There were other places I used, I've been accumulating these for months, so if you were the wonderful person who first made one of these pictures available online, thankyou. The outlook, opinions and spin attached are my fault ;-)
That is a link to AC's site. See, there is a reason I link there on every page, at least once.

Okay, I know we couldn't see Richie look up, but I dont got a picture of Duncan and I'm not too miffed about it. I know it's not exactly great art, but the story is only there to house the links and sometimes I had way more pictures than things to say.
