Banana Nut Bread
Banana Nut Bread
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mashed banana (very ripe)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Sift
together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternating with banana,
blending well after each addition. Stir in nuts. Pour into well-greased
9- x 5- x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350F for 45 - 50 minutes or until
knife inserted near center comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool on
rack. Wrap and store over night.
Hint: If at all possible, get real black walnuts.
