Baked French Toast
Baked French Toast
- 1 loaf bread sliced into 1 1/2" thick slices (Challah,
Italian, French, Raisin)
- 1 1/2 cup egg substitute
- 1 1/4 cup skim milk
- 1 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon orange zest or cinnamon
- 1/4 cup.pure maple syrup
- Chopped pecans, walnuts
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F. In a large non-metal bowl, whip together the
"eggs" skim milk, orange juice and optional spices. Marinate bread
overnight in the mixture. Spray a large pan with cooking spray.
Arrange bread in pan, pour remaining mixture over top of slices.
Sprinkle with nuts. Loosely cover pan with foil and bake for 30
minutes. Uncover and drizzle with pure maple syrup. Bake uncovered
an additional 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven. Dust with powdered
sugar and serve with fresh orange slices and orange marmalade. Serves
about 6 (if you're lucky)
