Black Walnut Bars
Black Walnut Bars
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 3 eggs
- 2 Tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped black walnuts
- 1 cup grated coconut
DRIZZLE:
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon corn syrup
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup cream or milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
Sift flour, salt. Gradually add sugar to shortening and cream
well. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Beat and add dry ingredients.
Add coconut and nuts. Pour into a 15" X 10" greased and floured
pan. Prepare drizzle and while hot pour over batter. Bake in 350
degree oven for 30 minutes.
DRIZZLE:
Cook all but vanilla to soft ball stage. Stir in vanilla and pour
over the batter in the pan. Bake.
