Bon Bon Cookies
Bon Bon Cookies
Cookie:
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
- 3/4 cup Confectioner's sugar, sifted
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract (Yes, Tbs., not tsp.)
- 1 1/2 cups All-purpose Flour, sifted
- 1/8 teaspoon Salt
- Food Coloring, if desired
Filling:
- Nuts, Chocolate chips or Maraschino Cherries, halved
Icing:
- 1 cup Confectioner's sugar, sifted
- 1 Tablespoon Cream or Milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Instructions:
Cream together the butter, sugar, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Add
the food coloring at this time, if desired.
Mix in the flour and salt by hand. If the dough is too dry and cant' be
handled, add in a tablespoon or two of cream.
Wrap about a tablespoon of cookie dough around the filling of your choice
and roll into a ball. Place the bon bons on ungreased cookie sheets as you
roll the dough.
Pre-heat the oven to 350-F degrees and bake the bon bons for 12 to 15
minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare the icing by mixing together the confectioner's sugar,
cream, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Add food coloring if desired.
Dip the warm bon bons in the icing and drain on a wire rack with wax paper
beneath it. You may add sprinkles or colored sugars to the top of the bon
bons while drying.
