If We All Knew

If we all knew
What would happen?
If we all knew
What was to come?
If we never felt pain,
There would be no joy.
Just a plain existence,
Nothing to fight
No resistance.
Nothing to stand for,
Nothing to represent.
Nothing to prevent.
Nothing but having to brace,
And face
The future head on.
And who wants to do that?
I want to debate,
I want to create.
Paint a future for myself.
Shape and mold my being,
And do it with feeling.
So I’m glad for all the emotions in life,
Whether pain or strife.
The picture becomes more beautiful,
With each stroke of the brush,
My heartbeat begins to rush,
At the thought of its completion.
I look back and I am satisfied.
