Last Night

Last night,
You and I were young.
Remember,
Do you remember last night?
I do.
I remember the first step
We took
Into that jazz club.
We did the two step,
Salsa,
Ballroom,
And swing.
And boy how you swung.
Up and down,
Slipping and sliding
All over that floor.
And you said,
I didn’t know,
My fair lady,
Was into jazz
Like that.
But today,
We’re wiser,
And have aged.
The past is a stage,
Where everyone wants to play,
But when the show is done,
There are no reruns.
No encores,
No nothing.
Just strings of memories.
And if I could,
I would sew them all,
Back together,
Just so the dead past,
Would be reborn again.
I remember last night.
Last night replays
in the heart
Of my
Dreams.
