A star on both the diamond and the gridiron at Georgia Tech, Ingram was selected by Detroit in the fourth round of the 1987 draft, and went on to play in the Tigers organization for seven seasons, making his Major League debut with Detroit on June 26, 1994. Ingram was signed by the Twins as a free agent prior to the 1995 season, and proceeded to win Class AAA batting championship hitting .348 in 122 games with the Salt Lake Buzz. Ingram then went 1-for-8 at the plate in four games with the Twins late in the 1995 season, and completed his playing career in 1996 by batting .249 in 124 games with Class AAA Las Vegas in the San Diego Padres' organization.

While at Tech, Ingram led the ACC in RBI in 1987 and in combination with his football performance, was named the ACC's Athlete of the Year. Among his other highlights as a football player, Ingram played safety and was a leader of the Black Watch defense that helped the Jackets to the 1985 All-American Bowl.

Trivia: Riccardo was initially assigned number 21 as a baseball player at Tech, but while participating in 1985 spring football practice, Ingram's uniform top was given to Jim Poole so that the freshman pitcher could make his collegiate debut as a reliever in a blow-out loss against Florida State. Poole struck out the side and the name plate on the uniform was soon changed from "INGRAM" to "POOLE". When Ingram rejoined the team, he would wear number 19 for the rest of his Tech baseball career.

Made his coaching debut in 1998 with the Fort Wayne Wizards, the Class A Midwest League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins....continued in that role as the Twins moved their Midwest League affiliate to Quad City in 1999....spent 2000-2002 seasons with Twins' Class A Fort Myers team in the Florida State League....promoted to Class AA New Britain Rock Cats of Eastern League for 2003....named manager of Gulf Coast League Twins for 2004....promoted to manage Class A Fort Myers Miracle for 2005 season and guided team to a 74-59 overall record....promoted to manage Class AA New Britain for 2006....promoted to Class AAA Rochester as hitting coach for 2008....resides during off-season in Lilburn, Ga.
