A great many of students, like myself, complete all courses, and start auditing classes to stay within this environment. My first class at the Royal Oak Campus was in Spring of 1990.......I stuck around there for 10 years, 8 more than the average student.
WORK: For thirty
years I worked for General Motors. I am happy about it as GM has
a 'Thirty-and-Out' Retirement. The first twenty years were spent
labor-intensively in sub-assembly work making car seats and door
trim.
The last ten years were much better as they were spent working at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. Almost everyday's lunch period was spent on a man-made lake with my fly rod catching (and releasing) pan fish....tough life, eh? Now retired at a 'young' age, life is enjoyed without the burden of a time card nor a boss.
HOBBIES:
I play around on the
computer with Adobe Photoshop. I am a SCUBA diver with numerous
certifications, including Master Diver, and Divemaster. SCUBA
diving has led me through some amazing travels: the Bahamas,French
West Indies,Mexico,Turks and Caicos, and French Polynesia. My
favorite diving location is Tahiti; made eight trips there! On
dives in Tahiti one gets a new respect and perspective about sharks.
Nearly every dive you will see at least a few sharks and quickly
figure out that you aren't high on their food list, and they are
magnificent creatures to be with.
Now that I'm retired and living off a pension, Tahiti is a far
off island and I have to get my kicks more economically. I do
local diving in the Ste Claire River (....the river is how Lake
Huron drains into Lake Erie). The thrills at Ste Claire River
is it's cold water, plenty of current, and ocean-bound freighters
overhead.
This year I got back to an activity I'd done heavily in the late sixties/early seventies: tent camping. My favorite campground is near Port Austin, Michigan (which is located at the tip of the thumb..refer to a Michigan map), called Port Crescent State Park. The campground is on the Lake Huron coast. Michigan is the U.S. "Middle Coast". I still fly fish when camping.

FUTURE PLANS:
The Main Plan is to
close-up things here in the north and head southward in pursuit
of a tropical, warm resort area. I haven't done financial planning
so my dreaming requires me to work a bit to cover bed and board.
THE plan, as I envision it, is to get down to Florida and find
someone, (preferably a Corporation), with a yacht needing a live
aboard caretaker. ............I'd be in a warm resort area, I'd
have a roof overhead, I'd be near/in water and my expenses would
be low. Sounds like a hell of a plan to me!!!!
The vision I'm working with is a sailboat, 65 to 105 feet, owned by a corporation and clientele would vary each week. The boat sails out every weekend and supplies get written off as company expense. May as well throw in a modest paycheck. Yacht would be drug free! Am I dreaming or planning? We'll see!
MUSIC: Love the
unusual; old swing music, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Louis Jordan,Tom
Waits, Kevin Quain & Warren Zevon. My ears love nearly everything that has roots in Louisiana--Dr..John,
Professor Longhair, cajun, zydeco. World music is appealing-especially
sounds which are primitive.
MOVIES: I prefer
my movies to be light and funny. Don't need message movies, chain
saw wielding maniacs, tear jerkers, nor Linda Lovelace.
