If you ask me what 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' means, I'll have to say I don't have a clue. But the animation is about three teenagers named Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Souryu and Rei Ayanami. They are the pilots of three different machinese called Evangelions. These 'Evangelion' are especially made by a special force (I'm not sure if that's what you call 'em) called NERV to protect Tokyo-3. Protect from what? Evangelions are used to protect Tokyo-3 from monsters called 'Angels'. These Angels are attacking Tokyo-3 because they are seeking for something in the city, I think.
