Kikira and JuilethBeing a bonder was hard work; life in general was hard work. Kikira didn't mind; she kept right on going. It would take a lot more than hard work to crack her.
Kikira wasn't even phased when the small, beautiful blue dragon who chose her turned out to be female. They didn't hatch that way at Caer Yslen, but Kikira wasn't about to complain. Life only got busier after the dragons hatched; Kikira was always doing something; chores, classes, tending Juileth's every need, and whatever else was asked of her. Even when she came down sick, she attempted valiantly to get everything expected of her done. This was her undoing. The more Kikira tried to do, the sicker she got and the less she got done. Even Juileth suffered. One day it happened; the stress was being layed on especially thick, and Kikira was even sicker yet. More, more, more. A soft, disorienting pain had started to creep over her during the last seven days or so, but Kikira had not slowed down enough to contemplate what it was. Suddenly, the eyes the ill Kikira was fighting to keep from closing snapped wide open. "Juileth? JUILETH?!" The dragon's presence was gone from her mind. The pain of separation overwhelmed her, and she crashed to the floor; unconcious. Healers rushed to her aide; and to Juileth's. Had the dragoness died? Juileth was reeling; but she was okay. Somehow Kikira's exhaustion had completely blocked their mental link, and caused Kikira to crack. |
