This could be an F/9 Cav AH-1G, later in its tour.  It was Ron Timberlake's who died 05 May 99.  Check out the pinstripe and the Cav sabers on the dog house.  This is the Snake he was shot in, in May 72.   Maybe it came down from the 101st.  MANY Snakes, slicks, loaches and 47s came into the 229th in 71- 72 when the 101st started stand down procedures.  However, this is an October 1971 picture.
