Sharrie has put this together from our Bible Study Tuesday Night.

STANDING & STATE

Comparing the two terms your stand and your state and why mixing the two can be dangerous in your daily walk and witness to others,

We will start out with a verse in the 11 book of Timothy and verse 15.

Always remember: Right Division is more than just being a dispensationalist; it is also learning to make a difference where God has made a difference. We do not divide up God's Word; we only recognize the divisions God has made.

11 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In this verse we find our direct instructions from God on how to study his word. And notice rightly diving the word of truth, this tells us there is a right way to divide the word and we should study it that way for clarity and understanding.

notice in verse 16: But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

we can see in this verse we need to shun profane and vain babblings. This verse is not always geared toward the lost man living for this world but also can be associated with not preaching the truth and twisting the scriptures, deceiving people with the wrong teaching

is very destructing to the body of Christ and is a very serious issue we all need to be aware of

In looking at these two terms we need to see there definitions for a better understanding.

Standing - a stationary condition.

State - the quality of a persons circumstances.

First we will look at what God's Word says in regard to our Standing:

Our standing, who we are in Christ, is a result of a finished work (Col 2: 10). It's found at the Cross also your identity if found at the Cross and our Union is with Christ because of the Cross. -

Here are some scriptures to support this for you to study out yourself. ICor 1:30

Gal 2:20 Eph 1:16 Eph 1:13

Our standing is made no better or no worse by your actions or your lack of actions. In other words God does not punish you for not walking a perfect daily walk but ... he will give you convictions in your heart to do away with worldly lusts its up to you weather you change and it's not a punishable issue,. Think of you as a child and remember a time when you directly disobeyed your mom or dad. When you were caught you were ashamed but ... your parents did not disown you and remove you from your family forever.

Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, to be conformed to the image of this Son that he might be the first-born among many betheren.

Our standing:

1. Settled at the cross

2. Sure that salvation has been given 3. Perfect because of the blood

4. Unchangeable we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise unto the day of redemption

Please take note of these four statements that describe your standing and notice in number 4 the word unto do not get this mixed up with until because until means the seal would be broken at some point unto has a meaning of for a purpose this makes sense when you think of that time God has a purpose for every member of his body. Wow that's very exciting!!!

Now lets take a look at our State:

L. unsettled

2. Unsure

unprefect

4. Changeable

Boy what a difference from our standing. Always remember your standing is what Christ has done for you and it can't be changed. Your state has to do with your walk and what you are doing for Christ and the message of the Truth. ( he knew all of us were imperfect and that's why he came to die) this alone should make you have a desire to do good works because of your appreciation for him. But when we fail he's always there to pick us up dust us off and help us try again.

Study out these passages for yourself and get into God's Word yourself

Romans Chapters I - 8 deals with doctrine

Romans Chapters 9 - 11 deals with dispensation

Romans 12 -16 deals with deportation or the removal of Israel

Ephesians I - 3 you'll find your standing in Christ Jesus

Ephesians 4 - 6 you'll find your state in serving Christ Jesus

Look in the following verses and gain some knowledge of your stand in Chfist.

Rom 5:1

1 Cor 15:1 reference this to Acts 20:24

Look in the following verses and gain some knowledge of your state in Christ.

Phil. 2:19 Phil 4:11,12 Col 4:7

if you are going to grow spiritually, you must learn to tell the difference between the Spiritual (in Christ Jesus) and in the physical (anything in the flesh).

here are a few examples of the spiritual vs. the physical:

11 Cor 4:18 this verse compare both

Phil 4:11-12 this verse deals vath the physical H Cor 8:9 this is spiritual

These next three verses are things to always be aware of in your walk.

I Chron 29:15 never confuse our standing or state with a shadow Psalms 102: 1 1 ditto!

James 4:14 never confuse your standing or state with a vapor
