"MARY WAS "ALSO" SLAIN, (LIKE) CHRIST JESUS"

Luke 2:34,35: "AND SIMEON BLESSED THEM, (AND SAID UNTO MARY,HIS MOTHER), BEHOLD,THIS CHILD IS SET FOR THE FALL,AND RISING AGAIN OF MANY IN ISRAEL (e.g., Isa 8:13-15; Matt 27:51-53; Matt 11:5, with 1 Cor 15:12-20), AND FOR A SIGN, WHICH SHALL BE SPOKEN AGAINST (e.g., Acts 28:22). The "RISING",as being that in "A RESURRECTION"; YEA, A SWORD (i.e., a Gr. romphaia, literal sword, or sabre) SHALL PIERCE THROUGH THINE OWN (SOUL) ALSO (i.e. Mary's Gr Psuche, literal, physical body, Gen 2:7); i.e., as that which would "ALSO" pierce Christ's side,at Calvary, John 19:37.. THAT THE THOUGHTS, or."REASONINGS" surrounding all such (e.g. Luke 2:19), MIGHT BE REVEALED..Gr apokalupto, Might be unveiled...

In the foregoing, (much overlooked verses), Joseph and Mary had taken the eight day old Christ Child to the Jewish Temple, in order to have Him circumcised; i.e., according to Lev 12:8. And for Joseph (and Mary) to offer up their individual "sin offering" "OF A PAIR OF TURTLEDOVES, OR TWO YOUNG PIGEONS", according to Leviticus Ch 12.

It was after those events that the Jewish Priest Simeon spoke exclusively to Mary, and plainly foretold her, that Christ Jesus would eventually "fall" at Calvary, and that Mary's own soul (i.e., her Gr Psuche, or her own literal, physical body; Gen 2:7) WOULD BE "PIERCED WITH A (Gr rhomphaia) SWORD--ALSO". i.e., As "ALSO" would be that of Christ Jesus, at Calvary! Taken in context, and with Christ Jesus as the unmistakable antecedent of the word "ALSO", these above verses state that very thing!

That there may be "no spiritualizing" of MARY'S "ALSO" PIERCING in the verses in question, may be aptly proven by The Holy Spirit's "choice" of the Gr word Psuche, Gr for "soul", Which could only be referring to Mary's literal, physical body; e.g., Gen 2:7.

Had The Holy Spirit meant THAT "MARY'S PIERCING" was that of "a wounding of Mary's (spirit)", then He would have used the appropriate Gr word Pneuma, to so indicate. Yes. Body, plus breath, equals "A LIVING SOUL". Nothing more. Nothing less. So states Gen 2:7. And that "the soul" and "the spirit" are not one and the same thing, is shown in 1 Thess 5:23, Heb 4:12, where they are shown to be both separate, and divisible.

Simeon's prophetic words concerning "the piercing" of Christ's literal body by a Roman spear, at Calvary, did indeed come to pass; e.g., John 19:37.

Simeon's prophetic words that Mary WOULD "ALSO" BE SO PIERCED was a portion of that same prophetic pronouncement. And therefore, they would "ALSO" come to pass in Messiah's prophetic words concerning Himself. In Ps 27:10, Christ Jesus said, "WHEN MY FATHER AND MY MOTHER FORSAKE ME (i.e., as in death), THEN THE LORD WILL TAKE ME UP". In that verse, Christ is referring to His post-Calvary Ascension of Acts 1:8-11, which would indicate that both Joseph and Mary had died, Joseph PRIOR TO, and Mary SOON AFTER, Christ's Acts 1:8-11 Ascension! See Mary's fate as that happening to many of Christ's post Acts" followers", in Acts,9:1,13,21,23.

In John 19:25,26, the dying Christ Jesus told John The Apostle to take Mary to his home, and care for her, (as if) she were John's own mother. Something that would never have been "needed", had Mary's husband Joseph still been living, and able to house and care for Mary. (Obviously), Joseph had expired, and was no longer "there" to do so.

Mary, on the other hand, was still alive at Acts 1:14. Her "soul" was pierced through with a sword, SHORTLY AFTER the fifty day period between Christ's death at Calvary and His being "taken up" at His Ascension of Act 1:8-11.

How do we know that all of the foregoing is true? By sound scriptural exegesis; i.e., by doing as Paul said to do, in 1 Cor 2:13."BY COMPARING SPIRITUAL,WITH SPIRITUAL"; i.e., by permitting The Word of God to explain and interpret The Word of God. This we have done in each of the foregoing scripturally related matters.

The 15th chapter of Jeremiah opens with Jeremiah stating. "THEN SAID THE LORD UNTO ME--". Thus it should be noted that during the remainder of that chapter, it is The Eternal, Living Word of God (i.e., Christ) speaking, as simply "recorded by" Jeremiah. In Jer 15:8-10, Christ makes the following prediction concerning his mother Mary and her (similar to His) death "by" an enemy sword", as covered in the earlier portion of this study, and as follows:

"THEIR WIDOWS ARE INCREASED TO ME, ABOVE THE SAND OF THE SEAS. I HAVE BROUGHT UPON THEM (instrumentally of course), AGAINST THE MOTHER OF THE YOUNG MEN, A SPOILER, AT NOONDAY. I HAVE CAUSED HIM TO FALL UPON IT (i.e., Jerusalem in context) SUDDENLY. AND TERRORS UPON THE CITY. From there on, Christ is referring to Mary's Luke 2:34,35 prophesied martyrdom, as follows—SHE THAT HATH BORNE SEVEN, LANGUISHETH. (SHE HATH GIVEN UP THE SPIRIT. HER SUN IS GONE DOWN,WHILE IT IS YET DAY). SHE HATH BEEN ASHAMED, AND CONFOUNDED: AND THE RESIDUE OF THEM, (i.e., "the persecuted followers of the slain Christ at that time, at Jerusalem") (WILL I DELIVER TO THE SWORD,BEFORE THEIR ENEMIES). (WOE IS ME MY MOTHER, THAT THOU HAST BORNE ME). A MAN OF STRIFE, AND A MAN OF CONTENTION, TO THE WHOLE EARTH! I HAVE NEITHER LENT ON USURY, NOR MEN HAVE LENT TO ME ON USURY. YET, EVERY ONE OF THEM DOTH CURSE ME. THE LORD SAID, (VERILY IT SHALL BE WELL WITH THY (surviving) REMNANT). VERILY,I WILL CAUSE THE ENEMY TO ENTREAT THEE WELL IN THE TIME OF EVIL, AND IN THE TIME OF AFFLICTION".

There it is (in context)! Christ is speaking of His mother Mary, stating that she would indeed "have seven other fleshly children"; e.g., Ps 69:8, Matt 12:46-50, Matt 13:55,56, Mark 15:40,47, Mark 6:3, Gal 1:19, Acts 1:14, 1 Cor 9:5--and--THAT SHE WOULD INDEED BE "SLAIN WITH A SWORD"--BY THE ENEMY". AS WAS HE "ALSO" TO BE SLAIN AT CALVARY! Thus, verifying Simeon's same prediction concerning Mary's future martyrdom, as "ALSO" so prophesied in Luke 2:34,35.

Mary was (obviously) one of the foregoing "slain widows",---slain sometime following Christ's death at Calvary. Her husband Joseph was no longer "there" to care for Mary, (having obviously passed away at some earlier date). See John 19:26,27, to see that one could "exegesically conclude" the above logical assumptions. Note that Mary was never again mentioned following her last appearance in the upper room, at Acts 1:14.
