THE "ONE BODY" & "SIGN GIFTS" OF 1 COR 12
Much doctrinal confusion has arisen from failing to see and accept, 1st Cor and 2nd Cor as being strictly Jewish Epistles. In addressing those Corinthian Jews, Paul said, 1 Cor 12:2 YE KNOW THAT YE (WERE) GENTILES CARRIED AWAY UNTO THESE DUMB IDOLS, EVEN AS YE WERE LED".
In that verse, Paul is referring
to the newly delivered "numerical nation of Gentiles", arrriving
at Mt Sinai, out of 430 years of Egyptian captivity. When "out of"
those well over 600, 000 (still Gentile souls), God called, and created, the
Jewish Nation of Israel--e.g. Acts 5:14 "SIMEON HATH DECLARED.
HOW GOD, AT THE FIRST, DID VISIT THE GENTILES, TO TAKE OUT OF THEM A PEOPLE, FOR
HIS NAME".
There it is. When reading
1st and 2nd Corinthans, it is imperitive to see, and accept. That Paul, is
speaking "solely to Jews", in context. And that having been
written by Paul, PRIOR TO, his third and final setting aside of National
Israel's Judahism, at Acts 28:28. One should not attempt to read (our
enire) Mystery Church Program, into those strictly Old Testament, Jewish
Epistles of 1st and 2nd Corinthians! 1st Cor 12:1, 2 confirms the foregoing
dispensational fact.
In "the commission"
of (Jewish) Christ Jesus, "solely to Jews, and to no Gentiles", with
the exception of being also to Gentile proselytes to Judahism, --of Matt
10:5, 6, Matt 15:24, Gal 4:4 and Rom 15:8. It is said in Matt 10:5-8, as
follows:
"THESE TWELVE (Jewish
Apostles) JESUS SENT FORTH, AND COMMANDED THEM SAYING: GO NOT INTO THE
WAY OF THE GENTILES. (they couild then "comoe to a Jew" in order to
become a Gnetile proselyte as did The Ethipian Eunuch of Acts 8:26, 40.
-- AND INTO ANY CITY OF (then Gentile) SAMMARITANS ENTER YE NOT. BUT
GO RATHER, TO THE LOST SHEEP OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL. AND AS YE GO, PREACH, SAYING.
THE (Davidic) KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND, i.e.of Luke 1:31-33, Matt
19:27-30, Heb 8:8-13, Jer 31:31-33. HEAL THE SICK. CLEANSE THE LEPER.
RAISE THE DEAD. CAST OUT DEVILS--".
Why so? Heb 2:4 "GOD
ALSO BEARING THEM WITNESS. BOTH WITH SIGNS AND WONDERS, AND WITH DIVERS
MIRACLES, AND GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, ACCORDING TO HIS OWN WILL"
Why so? 1 Cor 1:22 "FOR
THE JEWS, REQUIRE A SIGN", e.g. Ex 4:1-9. Assign the foregoing
"exclusively Jewish sign gifts", to The Jewish Nation of Israel, still
under the Old Testament Covenant of Law. And come to believe, that those
"Gifts of The Holy Spirit, were never "passed on" to any
others. And when they appear, (as in 1 Cor Chapters 12 thru 14). Then
there should be no question about their not being made to apply, to (our)
Dispensation of The Mystery Church, of Eph 3:1-0, Rom 16:25, 26. But here, it
is of the utmost importance to note, the following scriptural fact:
At Matt 16:20, in preparation
for his imminent death at Calvary, Christ Jesus "temporarily suspended"
his foregoing Matt 10:5-8 Jewish Kingdom of Heaven Commission, as follows:
"THEN CHARGED HE HIS DISCIPLES, THAT
THEY SHOULD TELL NO MAN THAT HE WAS JESUS, THE CHRIST", i.e.thereafter.
Which of course, WAS the gospel commission, previously entrusted to them, at
Matt 10:1-8. Including, "the exclusively Jewish, sign gifts of The
Holy Spirit", of Matt 10:8. All of the foregoing, simply to be "re-started"
the resurrected Christ Jesus, at the so-called Great Commission, of Matt
28:19, 20 and Mark 16:15-18, as compared with John 20:21.
How may we know, that the foregoing, post-resurrection, Great
Commission, which included the exclusively Jewish "sign gifts of
the Jewish believer, was still only to be given, "to saved Jews, and
no Gentiles", as at Matt 10:5-8?
At John 20:21, the newly resurrected
Christ Jesus appeared to those same Jewish Disciples he had commissioned, at
Matt 10:1-8, and said to them, as follows:
"(AS) My FATHER HATH SENT
ME., (only to Jews, and no Gentiles, Matt 10:5, 6, and Matt 15:24). (EVEN
SO NOW) SEND I YOU". Plain enough, isn't it? As setting forth"the
exclusively Jewish scope", of the so-called Great Commission, of
Matt 28:19, 20 and Mark 16:15-18. And, the strictly Jewish, Holy Spirit
"sign gifts, of the Jewish believer", that (then) accompanied
it!
All of the above to prove.
That "the sign gifts, of The Holy Spirit", as set forth in Matt
10:8, and Mark 16:15-18, (and 1 Cor Ch 12 thru 14), were given solely to
National Israel. As also verified, in Heb 2:1-4, and elsewhere in Holy
Writ! Those who would "misuse" 1st Corinthians Chapters 12
thru 14. To supposedly have "the sign gifts, of The Holy Spirit"
therein, APPLY ALSO, to (Our) Mystery Church of Eph 3:1-10, Rom 16:25, 26.
Fail to see, and accept. That 1st and 2nd Corinthians are strictly Jewish
epistles, addressed soley to The Jewish Nation of Israel, as shown earlier
in this study.
But then one might ask. Is
not (our) "ONE MYSTERY CHURCH BODY" of Eph 4:4-6, "in
view", in 1 Cor 12:21-31? The answer is, Yes It is. In 1 Cor, 2 Cor and also 1st and 2nd Thess, and in fact all of Paul's epistles, with the exception of his post Acts "prison epistles"
written after the 3rd and final setting aside of National
Israel, at Acts 28:28, Paul is "writing back" to the same saved Jews
and Gentile proselytes to Judahism, that Paul "had made: during the Acts
period. , e, g, Acts 17:1 and 18:1. It took Paul nine (9) years to set
aside Israwl's Judahism in the Holy Land area of Acts 13:46, and nine(years
to set aside Israel's Judahism, in Asia Minor, at Acts 18:6. In each
instance, Paul then stated "LO, WE TURN TO THE GENTILES".notice carefully—that
in the very next verses, that Paul had immediately returned to his
Acts period Gospel Order of—"TO THE JEWS FIRST"-of Rom 2:9. Yes. lthough
Paul had received his (unique) Mystery Church Gospel of Gal 1:1, 11, 12, and
(it's) Gospel of The Grace of Christ..i.e.(simultaneously) with his
setting aside of Israel's Judahism at those locales. Paul (literally)
did not have "the physical time" to reveal his Mystery Church Gospel, but
"wrote back" to the Jews and Gentie proselytes, he "had already made", and
(could and did) reveal "limited portions" of that Mystery Church Gospel such
as it's "ONE BODY" of Eph 4:4 to the Coribnthians, and The Mystery Church
"Rapture: to the Thessalonians, in 1 Thess 4::13-18. Paul coud not reveal
the (full) Mystery Church Gospel, until his 3rd and final
setting aside of Israel's Judahism at Acts 28:28. Paul gave the Jewish
Corinthians The "One Body" Truth, as the unique "MORE EXCELLENT WAY"
one Acts time offer, of 1 Cor 12:31, and affirmed The Mystery Church Truth
of (it's "future rapture" to The Jewish Thessakonians—because they
had been wrongly told they "had missed it", --and to both Corinthians
and Thessalonians-for the following added reason.
. God's different dispensations, "never
overlap". However, on at least two occasions, certain lives "overlapped
changing dispensations", e.g.at Mt Sinai, AND during "the Acts
period, setting aside of National Israel's Dispensation of law, at Acts
13:46, 18:6 and 28:28!
In both of the foregoing unique
circumstances. Those involved, were given the unique choice, of either
"continuing to live under", their present dispensation. Or, to
"live under" the new dispensation, that was then replacing
it. In neither case, were those saved under their present dispensation, required
to become "re-saved", under the new dispensation. But only
agree to abide by, it's "new" dispensational program!
In 1 Cor Chapters 12 thru
14, Paul is telling "those Jews". "TO COVET EARNESTLY
THE BEST (strictly Jewish) GIFTS, OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, of Matt 10:8, Mark
16:15-18. But goes on to say, in 1 Cor 12:31 "YET SHOW I UNTO YOU, A
MORE EXCELLENT WAY"! i.e. The new dispensational program, of The
Unique, 7 Unities of The Spirit, of Eph 4:4-6, and (our) Gospel of The
Grace of Christ, of Gal 1:6-9, as being entirely separated from "the
works, of the Jewish laws of Moses"!
The Jewish Epistle of Hebrewa, (also
written during the Jewish Acts period). Also set forth, what Paul was declaring to "the Jews", in 1st and 2nd Corinthians, i.e."The
good things, under the laws of Moses", but "the better things, under
the Dispensation of The Grace of Christ". In 1 Cor 12:13, Paul still
"recognized" "saved Jews", and their "saved
Gentile" proselytes to Judahism. But in (our) Mysterious One Body, of
Eph 3:1-10, Rom 16:25, 26 Paul "no longer recognized" any such
(two) ethnic bodies. See Gal 3:28, Col 3:11, Phil 3:1-9.
