~720 years before present. The Shattering.  The world is torn into a million pieces. Millions die. Some large land masses are saved through means unknown.  No contact between the various surviving land masses.  For the most part only tiny islands can be seen from Harn and it is unknown whether there are any survivors on them.  The only exception is of course the island of Melderyn which is connected to the main island by a crystal bridge.
0-10 years AS Harn sees the Great Purging in which sorcerors are hunted down and slaughtered.  Except of course in non-human areas and on the island of Melederyn.  Post-purge life adapts and the various kingdoms and clans find ways to live without magic.
652 AS People in the Kingdom or Jarin were startled by the appearance of a new island to the northeast*.  They are even more surpised to discover that it was getting steadily closer.  Over the course of a week the island kept getting closer.  The island was only a few hectares in area but as it neared a large group of people could be seen to throng it.  As it got closer chanting in a strange language was heard.  The Jarinese were quite excited about this event and messengers were sent all over Harn to announce this new arrival.  The island kept getting closer and people start getting nervous as there was no sign that it was slowing down.   Straight towards the castle of Lethwyn it moved.  When it got within shouting distance people tried to communicate with the islanders but they seemed to ignore all these attempts though they did stop chanting.  As the island got even closer the people on the island were seen to brace themselves.  The island struck and the shock was felt all over Harn causing a fair bit of damage as weak construction not built to withstand earth shocks crumpled.  (In far off Melederyn King Shelir II was slain when a shoddily built wall toppled over on top of him).  Most of this shoddy construction has been upgraded or replaced since then.

Though the Jarinese were hoping for a friendly encounter they were sadly disappointed to discover that the inhabitants of the island were actually intent on conquest.  The Jarinese had not been prepared for this eventuality so the castle of Lethwyn quickly fell.  The invaders called themselves Ivinians and were led by their god Sarajin.  They were only interested in total dominance over the Jarin and spent the next 34 years battling them.

(The Ivinians refused to speak of where they had come from and all they say is that they had moved their island by "the power of their god and their prayers".   Many delegations were sent to the Ivinians in the early days of their invasion to ask them where they had come from.  The delegations were no longer sent forth after the first group's heads were sent back.  This even happened to the Melderyn delegation.  It is speculated that the present generations of Ivinians no longer know where their parents and grandparents came from.

The island they had arrived on, now christened Victoryheim has been anchored to Harn by a 3 kilometer long rope cable that is used as a bridge.  This bridge is known as the Heromaker and anyone who wishes to travel to Victoryheim where the god still resides has to use this bridge or the cable car arrangement known as the Cowardsway).

686 AS Kingdom of Orbaal proclaimed on the remnants of the Jarinese kingdom.   Fighting continues.
699 AS Four young lads are born in the Village of Simil.
712 AS The population of the Village of Simil disappears in the night.
720 AS The Present.
