Message from Terry's son, Terry, Jr.
Hi all this is Terry Jr. I just wanted to let you all know
that my dad passed away this morning around 3:30 . He was at
home at the time and he didn't suffer. The funeral arrangements
are at Marocco's here in Logansport . We are setting the calling
for Tuesday 4-8 PM at Marocco's in Logansport and the service
will be at First Assembly of God in Logansport at 10:00 AM Wednesday

Services for Terry D. Groninger
Sr., 61, of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in
First Assembly of God.
He died at 4:49 a.m. Sunday, July
21, 2002, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born April 1, 1941, in Logansport,
he was the son of Clarence E. and Elmina Mae Stout Groninger.
On Sept. 10, 1961, in Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church,
he was married to Janice L. Hyman, who survives.
Retired and on disability the last
two years, Mr. Groninger had been a meat manager and cutter for
the last 40 years. He started cutting meat at City Meat Market
in 1961. Most recently, he was a meat cutter for Martin's Super
Market.
As a teen-ager, he had worked at
Keitzer's Drive-In as a car hop and grill cook. He also had worked
at Meijer in Kokomo; Collins Meats, Super-Valu and Little Jacks
in Logansport; Sixbey's in Monticello; and Thrift-T-Mart and
Garden City in Logansport.
Mr. Groninger graduated from Logansport
High School in 1959. He graduated at the top of his class from
Toledo Meat Cutting School in 1960.
He had been a member of the Logansport
Muzzleloaders Club and was a member of the Meat Cutters Union.
He loved music and played the mandolin,
violin and steel guitar. He was an avid collector of Thornton
W. Burgess children's books and also enjoyed woodworking. After
becoming disabled, he enjoyed watching the birds feed out his
window and hosting his sisters for coffee several times a week.
He especially loved spending time
with his children and grandchildren.
He was a member of First Assembly
of God in Logansport.
Also surviving are one son, Terry
Dean Groninger Jr., Logansport; one daughter, Sherry L. Sparks
and her husband Shannen, Walton; one granddaughter, Shaylee Rene
Sparks, Walton; one grandson, Shad William Caldwell Sparks, Walton;
four sisters, Dorothy Garrison, Lafayette, and Jeanie Shepard
and her husband Bob, Betty Jo Johnston and her husband William,
and Nancy Grable and her husband Ronnie, all of Logansport; one
brother-in-law, Ron Hyman and his wife Nancy, Longboat Key, Fla.;
one uncle, Tom Stout, Fairfax, Va.; two aunts, Shirley Hewitt
and her husband Gerald, Logansport, and Bonnie Rawlings and her
husband John, Greentown; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Thomas G. Groninger;
two sisters, Maryan Ropp and Barbara Lee Groninger; and two brothers-in-law,
Julian Garrison and Paul Ropp, preceded in death.
The Rev. James Sparks and Pastor
Andy Weil will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount
Hope Cemetery on Wednesday.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday in Marocco Funeral Chapel, where at 7:30 p.m., the family
will have a special time of sharing memories and fun times spent
with Terry. The family would like friends and relatives to be
present for this sharing time.
