![]() Beth Lehman Medland September 17, 1941 - January 19, 1987 Beth attended St. Marys College and Ball State after high school and married Tom Medland, brother of classmate Dick Medland, on August 12, 1961. Tom was in the military so they moved frequently. During the early 1960's they were in Werner Robins, Georgia, and at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Beth graduated from the University of Maryland in Heidelberg, Germany in 1966, but she and Tom found time to travel Europe extensively from 1965 to 1968. In 1968 they returned to the US and moved to South Bend, Indiana. In 1971 they moved to Appleton, Wisconsin, where they adopted their daughter Meredith in May 1972. Meredith was Beth's pride and joy. Beth was a substitute high school teacher in the Appleton Area School System for 14 years. She loved reading and was a member of the prestigious Appleton Wednesday Book Club. She was involved in the A Better Chance program for kids from the ghettos who came to high school in Appleton. She liked macramé, both downhill and cross country skiing as well as boating, exercising and dancing. She also enjoyed quiet times with the family at the familys lake cottage in Northern Wisconsin. Beth loved life and had fond memories of her days at LHS. She died of cancer January 19, 1987. |
