John H White Jr.

Private family services for
John H. White Jr., 62, of Logansport, will be held at a later
date. A military memorial will be conducted at Mt.
Hope Cemetery Sunday, October 3 at 2:00PM.
He died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004,
in Logansport Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
Born Oct. 3, 1941, in Logansport,
he was the son of John Herman Sr. and Alice Rebecca Everman White
Davidson English. Each of Mr. White's two marriages ended in
divorce. The first was to Jane Kathrens, Logansport, and the
second to Elizabeth Conley White, Kokomo.
Mr. White was a veteran of the
U.S. Air Force, having served in Vietnam.
Most everyone at LHS remembers
John's easy smile and great sense of humor, his loyal and generous
nature.
Both his amateur and professional
successes in golf are well known. In 1959, Mr. White's senior
year at Logansport High School, his golf team won the North Central
Conference, and he was awarded LHS's first golf letter jacket.
Soon after, he won the Dykeman Park City Tournament and in 1992,
as the pro member of the team, he won the Logansport Country
Club Invitational.
For several years, Mr. White was
the golf professional at Par Three and the Logansport Country
Club.
He also was a member of the American
Legion Post #3790 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #60.
He also enjoyed playing poker with
friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Carrie
Werich DeCraene, Mishawaka, and Nicole Elizabeth White, Indianapolis;
one grandson, Nathaniel John DeCraene; one sister, Patricia White
Adair Watson, New York, N.Y.; one brother, Robert Joe White and
his wife, Kathy, Attica; three nieces and two nephews; two aunts,
Esther White Austin, Lutz, Fla., and Margaret White Haskell,
Idaville.
His parents and his youngest brother,
Byron "Buzz" Davidson, preceded in death.
He will be honored with a veteran's
monument in Mount Hope Cemetery. (9-14-04)
