Welcome!
This page has information on several addin programs for the Rex 6000 micropda. You can download them from this page and use them how you like, they are freeware. But since I'd like to keep track of the number of downloads of these addins, I ask not to mirror these files nor to link directly to the zip-files. I'd prefer if you link to this page if you're referring people.

have fun with the addins!

  News:
6/18/2002   For Rexcade players who fancy a bit of competition, see Meert's highscores on Meerts Rex website, or for the really hardcore players see the amazing highscores of the comparable Psion Revo Cascade highscores.
3/24/2002   After a long break I finally make another update to this site. Since I had a "John Del Ferro wife-away-week" (tm) I couldn't resist making a 'showoff' addin that displays a 3D wireframe image. It's not a game, it's not useful, but hopefully it's nice to see. Download it here
9/7/2001   Added Mark Kentwell's Exchangerate assistant spreadsheet. This Excel 2000 (maybe Excel 97) spreadsheet assists with downloading exchangerates for the Rexchange addin and calculating the relative factors between currencies. And it does so with a smile. What more can you ask for? Get it here.
8/31/2001   Added an EARLY alpha version (v0.2) of RexBPM, a metronome addin. It displays a Beats Per Minute indication, a beat indication and sounds a beep on the beat. Tempo can be adjusted. This is not a complete and finished addin. Please read the readme for instructions AND limitations. Download it from the addin section.
8/30/2001   Updated Rexcade to v0.6(beta). New: square ball-bitmap for better overview, end of game detection works, highscore screenshot shows complete original playing field. See here for description.
8/28/2001   Release of Rexcade v0.5(beta), an addicting puzzle-game. The concept is 'borrowed' from the Cascade game of Psion Revo PDA devices. The gameplay is the same as on the Psion devices, so you can compare highscores. Try it out here.
8/25/2001   Added Rexchange sourcecode to the sourcecode zip archive. Because it's Citizens code and I changed only minor things in it, I didn't include a copyright notice or signature of my own in the sources. Get it here.
8/4/2001   Uploaded Rexchange v0.5, a currency converter. It's a translated version of the dataslim2 addin XChangelator by Citizen. Not very fancy, but a lot of people requested a currency converter. It'll have to do until someone releases a better one. (I know work on a better one has started...)

Uploaded a minor update of Rexpense from 1.0 to 1.01 (just cosmetic fixes, nothing important).

7/15/2001   Important news today: I've uploaded some new files, and am announcing that I'll be taking it easy when it comes to developing for Rex for a while.
  • updated Tasklean to v1.0: now supports purging items from all 5 Rexpense (v1.0) lists.
  • uploaded the sourcecode of all my addins for those interested. I release them under GPL. This is a formal way to say that ohers may benefit from my work and work that others may do on my work.

7/14/2001   Released Rexpense v1.0 with a new feature: there are now 5 seperate Rexpense lists instead of one.
7/13/2001   Replaced Rexpense v0.8 with v0.9 due to a bug that may cause loss of Rexpense items. Please upgrade if you're using v0.8.
7/12/2001   added an example MS Excel 2000 file on how to import Rexpense items into Excel. See Other files.
7/12/2001   Added a new version of Rexpense: v0.8, which now has an itemcounter and accepts negative numbers (without fraction).
7/11/2001   New version of Tennis:v1.1. Improved playability & visibility.
7/11/2001   New version of Tasklean:v0.7. Cleans up Rexpenses as well.
7/4/2001   Added a warning note to Tasklean description about possible sync problems. see below.
7/3/2001   Changed page layout, added a (crude) forum instead of buggy guestbook for questions, suggestions and other feedback
  7/1/2001   added Tasklean v0.5ß
7/1/2001   updated Rexpense to v0.7ß (added single tap editing and right-justified prices)
  7/1/2001   updated Guitarchords to v 1.01 (fixed D7 chord)

  Current Addins:

Cobra 3D
version: 0.1
Download
Cobra 3D is a demonstration addin. It can display a 3D model of the Cobra Mk iii spaceship from the famous 1980's computergame Elite. It's useless, but nice to watch or to show others. Please mind that I have no plans to implement the entire Elite game.

RexBPM
version: 0.2
Download
RexBPM is a simple metronome addin. It is in Alpha stage, so don't expect too much. It displays a Beats Per Minute indication (after a 10 second delay), a beat indication (2 flashing squares) and sounds a beep on the beat. Tempo can be adjusted, sound can be turned off.

Rexcade
version: 0.6ß
Download
Rexcade is the Rex version of Cascade, a puzzlegame which objective is to remove balls from a playing field in a strategic way. Sounds dull? Find out, and compare scores with Psion Revo players, or with Meert. Take a screenshot as proof of your highscore! Read the readme.txt for instructions and an URL for score-comparison. Thanks to Jon Read for the idea, he is the author of the Revo version.

Rexchange
version: 0.5ß
Download
Rexchange is a simple currency conversion program. It is made by Citizen for the Dataslim2 and adapted by me for the Rex 6000. The original name is Xchangelator.

It reads currency ratios from a memo in the Rex, which may be edited on the Rex itself to the user's needs to reflect new currencies or to adjust rates. See below for an exchange rate assistant spreadsheet. It helps to download current rates, and it calculates the factors to include in the Rexchange memo.

Please read the readme.txt inside the .zip. If you run the addin without reading the readme it will only display an error message.

  TaskLean
version: 1.0
Download
Tasklean is a small addin that can do two things:
  • it gets rid of all completed (checked-off) tasks in the Rex tasklist
  • deletes Rexpense items.

Instead of deleting them one by one by hand, this addin deletes items in one go. This addin has been through beta, but be sure to sync every once in a while to make sure you don't lose much data if something goes wrong.

NOTE: There seems to be an issue with a previous version (0.5). When using Intellisync to do a quicksync, the quicksync stops when syncing tasks after using Tasklean. To recover from this you need to initialize your Rex using Rextools (after making a backup) and upgrade Tasklean.

  Rexpense
version: 1.01
Download
A basic expense tracker. It has the ability to record expenses in multiple lists, and display some simple statistics. This addin is adapted from the Dataslim2 addin "Expensememo" from the Citizen Dataslim2 SDK, I modified it to run on the Rex 6000. Read the Readme.Txt inside the zip for details on how to use it. This version has many small enhancements over v0.7 (negative numbers allowed and an itemcounter) plus the ability to work with 5 Rexpense lists. The way items are highlighted and selected changed a bit since 0.7ß. Let me know what you think.

NOTE: Users of v0.8 (downloaded from this site on 7/12 and 7/13) should upgrade, it has a bug that may cause you to lose Rexpense items.

There's an Excel workbook available demonstrating the possibility to import Rexpenses into Excel here.

The Tasklean addin now features purging of items created in Rexpense.

  Tennis
version: 1.1
Download
This game is a flavor of the classic tennis-type of game which was first popular in the 70's. I think the copyright to the original game is still held by Atari, so I didn't use their name Pong.

Since beta 0.9 and v1.0 some bugs are fixed and sound is added (and an option to turn it off!). This version hopefully fixes a problem that occurs on some screens with the graphics being hard to see.

  GuitarChords
version: 1.01
Download
GuitarChords is a small reference program that shows how to position the fingers to make a certain guitar chord. It contains 15 chords, which should be enough to get a beginner started. This version has the D7 chord fixed.

  Other Files:
  Exchange Rate Assistant for Rexchange
version: 1.0
Download
This is Mark Kentwell's Exchangerate assistant for Rexchange. It consists of an Excel 2000 (probably not for other versions) workbook which processes the rates table of an exchangerate website to a single string for use with Rexchange.

He kindly offers this sheet to you for your benefit, however it is provided As-Is, without support.

If you have trouble using this spreadsheet (eg. don't have Excel), you can perform the tasks that this assistant does manually also, read the Rexchange addin readme file for instructions.

The sheet is very clear on what actions to take (see it to believe it :). You'll probably get the question whether you want to enable macros when opening the sheet. Answer yes.

  Expense Report
version: 1.0
Download
An Ms Excel 2000 (probably not for other versions) workbook to demonstrate how to import items from the Rexpense addin into Excel. The result of importing the Rexpense data is a printable expensesheet with dates and numbers converted from the Rexpense format. It also puts a total amount at the bottom. The workbook is meant to show how importing can be done. Further customizing is up to the user.

It starts up with an instruction sheet when opened in Excel, hopefully that's enough to get started. You'll probably get the question whether you want to enable macros when opening the sheet. Answer yes.

Addin Sources
version: 8/25
Download
These are the sources to the above addins. New is the source of the Rexchange addin. I release them under GPL so that others can benefit from my work and work that others may do on them. You may release new work based on these addins, as long as you distribute the sourcecode with it, and give due credit.

Unfortunately the addins are prettier on the outside than on the inside. On top of that, the souces are not very well documented. But anyone who wants to take a peek: here they are.

Rex developers who are using the z88dk compiler with rexdk can find a converted version of the Tennis addin sourcecode at Daniel Schmidt's site: http://www.oocities.org/dmps82
