Week 1 Scores

Even I am going to need help on the Looney-Meeks game. I
didn't keep their lineups (that won't happen again),
expecting fanball to have them, but it doesn't show the
top 3 bench players, which in this case, matters a great
deal. Ed and Robert, you need to do your own scoring for
that one! I have tried to add the combination of their
bench players in many ways, and this just can't be a tie,
Looney has 53 points for the tie-breaker, I don't see any
way the Meeks can have 53 (unless he played the Broncos
DS (33), Antonio Bryant (6), and Josh Reed (14) as his
backups? leaving a starting QB out of the scoring?? no
way), but the Meeks sure can have more than that.

scores:

Dawgs 165
Pipsqueaks 96

The Dawgs barked up the defensive and running back tree this
week, the Bills DS, racking up 39 points on 4 INTs and a
shutout. The Dawgs running backs got 61, Henry scored 26,
Williams 22, and Lewis 13. That was enough to win the game.
Jason Elam booted in another 21 for the Dawgs. The Pipsqueaks
got good points from Farve with 32, Torry Holt pulled in 22,
and the Duece had 12, but it wasn't enough to leash the Dawgs.
Dawgs 1-0, Pipsqueaks 0-1.

Highlanders 118
Ferrets 99

Both of these teams had very consistent scoring down their
roster, the Highlanders had higher consistents. The Highlanders
were yelling from the mountaintops, with Chris Chambers big
receiving day for 38 points, the high scorer in the game. They
also got 15 from Barber, and Vanderjagt added 14, all players
scored. All players also scored for the Ferrets, Trent Green
threw for 33, Mason had 18 and Matt Bryant kicked for 18 more,
but they come up a little short in their inaguaral BFL game.
Highlanders 1-0, Ferrets 0-1.

Manglers 139
Butchers 120

This was a game of big plays, 4 players on each team
contributing around 90% of the points. The Manglers Jeff
Garcia tossed and ran for 42 points, Priest Holmes showed his
legs for 35, Robison had 16, and the Detroit DS had a big
game for a new coach, the best in a while, for 34 points. The
Butchers Jay Fielder scored 47 (top scorer in the BFL this week),
Hearst ran and caught for 23, Hines Ward, scoring machine,
scored 26 and Anderson kicked in 17. The Butchers Dolphin DS
came up with 'zero'. (side note: And I don't wanna hear it, geez,
the Dolphins defense suked :)
Manglers 1-0, Butchers 0-1.

Outlanders 122
Mukes 98

The Outlanders get off to a better start than last year, how did
they have the record they did last year, with this team? Aaron
Brooks scored 32, the versatile Shaun Alexander (who used 2 be a
Mule) scored 26, and Chad Johnson pulled in 22 points. The
Outlanders got consistent scoring, from every position. The Mules
kicked back with Rich Gannon's 42, the Falcons DS vs the Cowboys
for 17, and the rookie, 'Mister Wide Receiver' Charles Johnson
getting 17 points, much to the delight of the hometown fans, I'm
sure. But, not enough to win.
Outlanders 1-0, Mules 0-1.

Gizzards 116
Mustangs 98

The Gizzards start the BFL 2003 season with a win over the Mustangs.
Daunte peppered the Mustangs for 40, and on the receiving end was
Randy Moss for another 25, Stallworth pulled in 12, and the Carolina
DS clawed out a win, and another 20. The Mustangs started riding
with 43 from Tommy Maddox, 26 from Ahman Green, Coles and Burress
both added 12 apiece, but were knocked out of the saddle by the
Redskins DS, only scoring 2, and not enough support at running back.
Gizzards 1-0, Mustangs 0-1.

(now, this was odd, I'm still not sure this is a tie, I've never seen
one in the BFL, and I doubt it)

Meeks 112
Looney 112

The Meeks went into the Monday night game needing a lot of points
from the Bucs DS, and they got them, along with a shutout, even in
Philadelphia's new stadium (it pained me to hear those Eagle fans
booing, but they didn't look good). The Looney took an early lead
with Bledsoe tossing for 28, Tim Brown and Janikowski putting up
16 apiece, and the Vikings DS racking up 27. The Meeks got 29 from
Clinton (score-a-ton) Portis, 21 from Manning, Feely booted 15 points
and the Tampa Bay DS ended up with 26. Obviously, I don't even want
to look at the stats, because 1 or 2 yards either way could have
decided the game. If Philly had kicked that field goal in the first
quarter, they wouldn't have got shutout. One stat I did see, was
Peyton Manning's longest completion of last Sunday was 18 yards! I'll
bet that hasn't happened since he was playing in a game in 4th grade.
The Browns defense may be for real.

(and I apologize for not keeping all the lineups, so I could see who
the 3 top bench players were for these teams, it won't happen again)
