Week 10 Scores
Points were WAY back up in week 10 in the BFL 2003, where
we like them, teams solidifying their positions with only
four regular season games to go. This is the time to make
your move if your going to be making one, and some BFL
teams do clinch playoff spots in week 10, this a good time
of the year. It is always interesting to see how the really
high BFL scores start to show up in last few weeks of the
regular BFL season, but then players get benched and scores
go down for the playoffs. Anybody think that if the Kansas
City Chiefs wrap up home field advantage throughout the
playoffs in the next 3 weeks, that Trent Green won't be on
the bench after the first half, and Larry Johnson will be
getting a lot of work in place of Priest Holmes? (just look
at their remaining schedule, the Chiefs are going to coast in)
Let's get to it:
Butchers 196
Looney 123
The Butchers top the Record Book now for most points in a
game at fanball.com (this is just the first season, of
course, still, well done!). How a 2-7 team can do that, is
beyond me, you gotta see this scorecard to believe it, but
here it is: Moe "Points" Williams gets 45 rush, 126 recv and
TDs of 31 and 2 for 35, newly acquired Leftwich gets it right
with 179 yard passing(43 yd TD pass), and runs one in from 4
yards for 33, Ravens DS gets 2 int, 2 fumbles, and 4 sacks
for 28, Jeff Wilkins kicks 3 PATs and 4 FGs of 49,46,48,27
for another 28 (my hands are just too tired to type more),
but Ward 23, Boldin 19, Duckett 17, and Tony Gonzalez was low
scorer for The Butchers, with 13. That is scoring, consistent,
right down the lineup. The Looney got a great day from
Tomalinson again, 45 yds recv, and 16 RUSHES FOR 162 YARDS!
(that is quick math, around 10.1 yards a carry), TDs of 73,1,
that dude is good, 30 from Carr, 22 from Jimmy Smith, but not
near enough to beat The Butchers in the battle of the teams
with the worst record in the league this year (don't worry,
I'll be there soon, Ed, but we don't, and won't (if you know
what I mean), play again this season :). The Butchers are now
3-7, and The Looney are 1-8-1.
Mustangs 144
Mules 123
The Mustangs needed a lot of points on Monday nite to win
this game...and they got them, in the form of soon to be NFL
MVP Ahman "Workhorse" Green (so far...he could get hurt, he
is pushing way ahead of Stephen Davis and Peyton Manning,
can you imagine how bad the Packers record would be if they
didn't have this guy?) running like a wild stallion, 192 yds
rushing, 45 yd TD, 32 recv and a 24 yd TD for 47 big BFL
points to gallop past The Mules. Santana "The Other" Moss
pulls in 146 and a 65 yd TD for 34, Maddox shows back up for
3 passing TDs of 9,5,22 for 32, L. Coles pulls in 125 and a
15 yd TD for 22 for The Mustangs. The Mules Chad Pennington
is back again this week, this kid is a winner, with 269 yds
passing and TDs of 65 and 3 for 43, rookie D. Davis ran good
again (again) for 19, Steve Smith caught for 13, Kasay booted
in 17, and everybody scored, but not enough to stave off or
rein in the Galloping Green. The Mustangs are now 4-6 and
The Mules are 3-7.
Meeks 121
Ferrets 114
In what really ended up being the only close game of the
week, The Meeks prevail even with Marvin Harrison leaving
the game near the end of the 1st quarter after only 1
catch...but that catch was for 30 yards, and a TD, for 13
BFL points (that guy is great, too) as Peyton lit it up
again for 347 yards passing and TDs of 30,13 for 46, the
Bucs DS got 19, Josh Brown kicked in 14, and everybody
scored. The Flatulating Ferrets got a big day from Trent
Green with 368 yards passing and TDs of 14,28,27 for 55
points, Fred Taylor continues to run hard, 152 rushing and
TDs of 5,32 for 35, but then they....ran out of gas? The
Ferrets Dolphin DS scored zero (yes, 0) against the Titans,
Charlie Garner only had 1 rush for 9 yards (although I can't
find that he was injured, he must have pissed the coach (or
Al Davis) off) for 0, Hambrick, Jackson, and Mason could
only get another 16, and welcome to the BFL, these things
happen. The Ferrets had Rod Gardner on the bench, he scored
22. The Meeks are now 7-2-1 and clinch a playoff spot, and
The Ferrets have their 5 game winning streak snapped, and
go to 6-4.
Gizzards 120
Pipsqueaks 55
Typing of 5 game winning streaks, the Pipsqueaks' pigskin
is deflated by the Gizzards this week, who more than double
their score. Culpepper puts up big numbers (even as
Minnesota loses to a 1-7 team) for the Gizzards, 42 rushing,
then TD passes of 4,19,31,2 and 370 passing yards for 62 BFL
points, that was enough to win the game, Moss caught 120 and
a 4 yd TD scoring another 19, the Panthers DS scored 16,
Corey Dillon didn't even play, but he wasn't missed in this
win. The Pipsqueaks after lighting the scoreboard in past
weeks, hit a snag, as Kerry Collins only scores 20 points
(now, I was asking last week why the Giants weren't leading
the NFC East? Now I know, as they get crushed at home by
Atlanta, another 1-7 team, ouch), the Chiefs DS comes up
with 16, Torry Holt, the NFC leading receiver is held to 3,
another head shaker, hello BFL scoring at times, that is
just amazing, though. The Gizzards scratch their way to
.500 at 5-5 and the Pipsqueaks are 6-4.
Dawgs 148
Manglers 104
The Dawgs clinch a playoff spot with a week 10 win over the
Manglers. Were the Dawgs out rounding up the Rams? The Rams
DS puts up 54 BFL points, with 3 ints, 4 fumbles (1 returned
for a 43 yard TD), and 7 sacks, Hasselbeck tosses in another
29, running backs Lewis (19), Henry (9), Williams (3)
combine for 31, Anderson kicks in 18, and Boston catches
another 16. The Manglers get 29 from Priest Holmes, Shayne
Graham booted in 18, the Cowboys DS put up 16, but needed
more priests on the team again this week. The Dawgs are now
8-2 and the Manglers are 3-7.
Outlanders 160
Highlanders 95
I may have to start typing about 'karma' here, if The
Outlanders add anymore players with the last name of
'Johnson' to their lineup. Brad Johnson throws for 41 on
275 yards passing and TDs of 23, 36 (as the defending Super
Bowl champs lose again), newly acquired Rudi Johnson runs
for 182 yards and TDs of 17,1 yd, Keyshawn Johnson pulls in
19, and Chad Johnson 9. That is some big Johnson (sorry
again, John, but with your first name, and their last name,
that is just too good to pass up :), the Titans DS also had
the Dolphins for dinner, with 38 points, on 3 int (1 TD), 2
fumbles, and 4 sacks. The Highlanders Kitna threw for 23,
McCardell pulled in 22, Vanderjagt booted in 16, Tiki "The"
Barber ran in 15 (but also got 'shaved' for 2 fumbles), but
not enough to handle (overcome? ouch) the Big Johnson. (I
apologize, Scott, but the ESPN guys, or any sportswriter,
would have a field day with all those Johnson's, it is just
too good to pass up, I still have to play them in division
again, it won't be pretty :). The Outlanders are playoff
bound, and have won the Halas Division at 8-2 now, and the
Highlanders go to 5-5.
==========================================
If planning on making your move this season, now would be
the time to start with only 4 games left in the BFL regular
season!
Week 10 MVPs - Culpepper, Ahman "Workhorse" Green, Rams DS,
The Butchers whole team
