Week 14 Scores
Meeks 201
Looney 89
Before we get to the scores that matter, The Meeks broke
the fanball.com single game scoring record with 201 points
as Clinton Portis ran for 5 TDs against the once
undefeated KC Chiefs, TD runs of 11,1,59,28, and 53 yards,
for 83 BFL points, somebody tell me if a player has scored
more than that in a game, I certainly can't remember it.
Marty Booker even showed up for the Meeks, with 28,
everybody else in double digits, except kicker Josh Brown,
who missed FGs of 52 and 49 yards, or there would have been
even more points. The Looney got 39 from (fairly) newly
acquired Donavan McNabb, 22 from the Colts DS who beat
Tennessee in a big game, but, come up a little short. The
Meeks go into the playoffs looking tough, and are the #1
seed finishing the regular season at 11-2-1, American
Looney finish their season at 2-11-1.
Butchers 138
Mangles 135
If you told me that a player scored 6 TDs in a BFL game,
and that team still lost, I wouldn't believe it, unless
you were talking about the 2003 Manglers *big smile*.
Jeff Garcia threw 4 TDs, 1,18,27,2 yards, ran for 2 TDs
of 3 and 4 yards, scoring 64 BFL points. While the rest
of the team muddled on, The Butchers Jeff Wilkins came
in on Monday nite, and kicked 2 PATs and 4 FGs to pull
out the victory. The Baltimore DS (who the Manglers cut
a few short weeks ago) scored 37 to aid The Butchers cause.
The Butchers end the season at 6-8, and the Manglers end
at 3-11.
Dawgs 182
Pipsqeaks 42
The Dawgs get 114 BFL points from the running back position,
and 35 from the Rams DS as they go to the 'dawg pound' on
the Pigskins this week. The Pipsqueaks Kerry Collins is
carted off the field, and for a playoff team, with only 42
points scored, they now have the honor of being the 3rd
lowest scoring team in a game, ever, at fanball.com, in the
Record Book: Lifetime - Regular Season - Lowest Scores, for
the BFL, not a great way to start the playoffs. The Dawgs
clinch a tie for the Lombardi Division title, at 10-4, and
win the highest playoff spot on the tiebreaker differential
with the Ferrets, and have the #2 BFL playoff spot, the
Pipsqueaks are at 8-6.
Ferrets 146
Highlanders 116
The Highlanders seem to like that 116 number. The Ferrets
win with Trent Green not on the bench (and not likely 2 b
with the AFC playoff picture) throwing for 397 yards, 1 TD
(42), and ran 1 in from the 1 for 55 BFL points. Now, is
this a yardage league or what? Jeff Garcia scores 4 more
touchdowns than that, but only ends up with 9 points more
(64), that is a headshaker. Super scoring down the rest of
the Ferrets roster, the way you like to see it. The
Highlanders got great consistent scoring, too (QB 26, RBs
28, WRs 35, PK 23), from everybody on the roster, Seattle
DS only came up with 4, but they aren't good on the road.
Still, not enough to match the Ferret's output. The
Ferrets tie for the Lombardi title at 10-4, and the
Highlanders go into the playoffs at 6-8.
Outlanders 55
Mules 44
The less typed about this game, the better, The Outlanders
stumble into the playoffs as the Halas Division winner at
10-4, and have the #3 playoff spot, The Mules end their
season at 4-10.
Gizzards 178
Mustangs 117
In another not close game, The Gizzard's Culpepper throws
for 54, Randy Moss catchs 41 points of that, but an
interesting tidbit, Gizzard's display their 'secret weapon',
Kevin Barlow finally breaks out, and rushes for 31 BFL
points (Hearst is hurt?), could be much needed for the
playoffs. The Mustangs had good scoring: QB McNair 42, a
little low from RBs, but 16, WRs 22, PK 14, and Eagles DS
(in a big win over Dallas) had 23, but couldn't stop the
Culpepper ===> Moss show. The Gizzards head into the
playoffs with a win at 7-7, and the Mustangs end at 6-8.
