Week 3 Scores
Well, wow, just wow, let us get to it.
It must have been something in the pre-fall air, because I've
been in this league for awhile, and I have NEVER seen BFL
scores this low before all the way down the board. The highest
scoring team in BFL week 3, scored...114 points (hats off to
the Pipsqueaks, they obviously won). That is unbelievable. Is
this parity? I don't think so, it was just a very strange week.
But, strange is good, and strange things happen in football,
that is why we watch. It certainly made for a lot of close, and
exciting BFL games, which I always enjoy.
BFL week 3 scores:
Mules 105
Manglers 104
Football is a game of inches? This game certainly proved that!
Garcia stopped at the one, George gets 100 yards rushing on the
button, Rod Smith is ejected from the game for striking an
official(?!?), Gannon and the defending AFC champion Raiders
have another lackluster day. The Mules get their first win of
the season with a big day from Andre Johnson with a 43, and a
late 4 yard TD, for 32 points, George gets 19, Gannon throws for
14 Monday nite, enough to win, and every other player scoring 6
or more. The Manglers fell short, with Holmes being taken from
the game after only 29 points, Robinson pulled in 16, the New
Orleans DS came up with another 16, but Garcia couldn't find the
endzone for only 22. The Mules give the Halas Division a kick in
the pads, moving to 1-2, and The Manglers are now 2-1.
Outlanders 73
Butchers 70
Then how about his one? The Outlanders edge the Butchers, with
23 from Brooks, 13 from Bruce, another combined 18 from the
rest of their receivers, especially Jerry Rice, picking up 6
on Monday night, enough for the win. The Butchers got 20 from
Fiedler, 15 from Mo 'Points' Willaims, 16 from the 49ers DS,
but 3 zeroes on the score card, from Hearst, Duckett, and Jeff
Chandler, who did not kick in the San Fran game. The Butchers
also had Brad Johnson riding the bench, he scored 35 (then again,
The Outlanders had Jake Plummer on the bench, and he scored 43).
The Outlanders go to 2-1, and the Butchers fall to 1-2.
Gizzards 74
Looney 69
Then there was this. The Gizzards Daunte Culpepper scored 24, E.
James had a good day of running for 12, the Jets DS had 15, and
Gramatica booted in 11 points. The Gizzards had Lelie on the
bench, he scored 25. The Looney got 25 from Tomlinson, 19 from
the Vikings DS, but only 9 points from Drew Bledsoe (can anybody
reading this even believe that?)(while Jeff Blake on his bench
had 39). There were many zeroes on both sides of the starting
rosters in this contest. It was a very strange week in the BFL.
The Gizzards poultry their way to a 2-1 record in the Landry
Division, and The Looney are still looking for their first win,
at 0-2-1.
Pipsqueaks 114
Highlanders 107
Another game decided by one play. The Pipsqeaks again this week,
get huge production out of the Kansas City DS, and a 73 yard
punt return for a touchdown, ending with 37 big BFL points,
Favre pitched in another 29, Toomer caught for another 25, and
John Hall booted in 11. The Highlanders got 25 from Tom Brady,
15 from Tiki 'The' Barber, the Seattle DS had 20, and Vanderjadt
kicked in another 19, but they needed one more big play for the
win. The Pipsqueaks get their first win of the young BFL season
and are now 1-2, and The Highlanders and also at 1-2.
Dawgs 112
Ferrets 97
In a game that I'm sure had both coaches watching Monday night,
The Dawgs remain the only unbeaten\untied team in the league.
They had a strong Dawg showing from Hasselbeck with 38, Ricky
Williams setting a new Dolphin's record for most carries in a
game, 42 rushes for 25 BFL points, Lewis ran for 22 more, but
Travis Henry couldn't add any help, scoring zero. The Ferrets
probably thought they had this one early in the day, with 31
from Trent Green, Taylor ran for 15, Jackson caught 13 and
Gardner pulled in 10, with the Ravens DS adding 17. But,
Charlie Garner got zip for the Ferrets on Monday night.
The Dawgs are now 3-0 atop the Lombardi Division, and the
Ferrets go to 1-2.
Meeks 112
Mustangs 96
In the BFL 'blowout' of the week (you all tell me when the last
time the greatest margin of victory in the BFL for all the teams
in a week was 16 points? very strange week), The Meeks stay on
top of the Landry Division. The Meeks may have realized that
teams weren't going to let Marvin Harrison beat them this year,
drafting Reggie Wayne, who scores 32 BFL points on 141 yards
receiving and TDs of 28 and 4 yards on the other end of Peyton's
arm, which had 33. And defense, defense, defense, the Tampa Bay
DS comes up big again with 29, on 5 turnovers. The Mustangs got
29 from Maddox, but Burress could only pull in 6 of that, and
got good production from Ike Hillard with 20, and L. Coles with
11, but not enough. They also played a kicker with a bye week,
which didn't help. The Meeks remain unbeaten at 2-0-1, and The
Mustangs go to 1-2.
