Mystery
Craft
One of our most creative crafts was our mystery craft. I put
various scrap craft supplies into paper bags, making sure that
everyone got something different. The girls were instructed to
use what ever they wanted, including the bag if they wanted to,
but that everyone's craft had to be different. We ended up with
great results. I find that many of the girls want to create
carbon copies of others crafts so this activity made sure that
everyone's creation was unique.
Paper plate bunny
Use a colored paper plate, two white plastic spoons and
construction paper. Make two slits in the paper plate parallel to
each other so that the spoons can be inserted through the slits.
You want the bowl of the spoon to face toward the plate. If done
correctly the backs and the ends of the spoons will be visible
from the front of the plate. The spoons become eyes and bunny
teeth. Cut out pink ears and attach to top of plate. We uses
permanent marker to make eye ball on the spoons. This is the way
we made the nose. Cut two pieces of yarn and glue in an X where
nose should be, then glue a pom pom over the yarn. Now you have
whiskers and a nose. Nose could be made out of anything.
Paper plate butterfly
This is also a very good craft. I hope I can explain it properly.
You need two of the thin paper plates and a stapler. Cut one of
the plates in half. Fold the second plate in half with bottom of
plate touching, unfold. Decorate the bottom of the plate as a
butterfly, the crease runs down the middle of the butterfly.
Staple the halves of the paper plate to the decorated one,
bottoms of plates to the outside. This makes a pocket for your
fingers to make the butterfly, fly. Add pipe cleaner antenna.
Snow Globe
Use a small glass baby food jar, water, moth flakes, a small
plastic ornament and a silicone base adhesive. I have tried to
use hot glue but it did not hold. I found glass and ceramic
adhesive that says it's 100% silicone rubber and it worked
excellent. Glue the small ornament to the inside middle of the
lid or if you don't mind it being upside-down, inside the glass
jar. Let the girls put a teaspoon of moth flakes into the jar and
fill jar with water. Secure the lid to jar with adhesive and
close. Do not turn upside-down until the glue has set. When you
shake the jar it snows. If you wish you can decorate the lid of
jar by painting or by placing a circle of fabric over it and
secure with a rubber band to hold it and ribbon to look nice.
