A HUMBLE REQUEST

India is the oldest civilization in the world which brought out 'universal values' for whole mankind. India has a remarkable experience in cultural synthesis in the midst of unparalleled diversity. This cultural, social center has nourished a number of great philosophers and personalities and thus became the origin of major school of philosophy and religions. India has attracted the hundreds of seekers of transcendental and worldly treasures alike, over the centuries.

The two most important jewels in the cultural treasure of India are Non-violence and vegetarianism. These two go hand in hand. We, the human beings are not supposed to hurt any others, including animals, just for our own luxurious life. All living being are creations of GOD and no one has got any right to kill or harm any other creatures. All living beings have equal right to live, nourish and to have a peaceful death. How can we be so selfish to killing other animals for flesh, skin or any other product for our own luxury?? We are betraying our own culture and heritage and misusing the intellectual power given by GOD.

Especially we need to think very critically in case of cows. All of us know that cow -'Gomaatha' is highly respected and worshipped in Indian culture. Cows are inseparable from the social, cultural and religious life of Hindus. We have innumerable descriptions in our holy scriptures about the sacredness of the cow. Even now traditional families worship and feed cows everyday. Through out India, "Go-Puja" is celebrated on third day of 'Diwali' festival. We can find volumes of literature glorifying the sacredness of cows and importance of worshipping cows. In our daily life also we are being fed by of milk, butter, curd, ghee etc. continuously from childhood onwards. Milk is the best food for every one, from kids to aged one. In all respects, cow can be titled as our second mother. There is no other animal as useful as cow. Hence there no wonder in insisting that we need to be highly grateful to cows, not just because of religion or culture but for its help to mankind.

But the reality is unimaginable !!. These poor cows are treated very badly when they become old, weak or sick. They are being sold for a paltry sum and are made to see a horrible end in butcher's hand !!. What a inhuman sight it is !! These cows are made to meet a brutal end, without any chance to have peaceful death. After getting all the benefits from the cows, people treat them inhumanly at their old age. Is it not our duty to try to help and protect these cows from this horror? Though cow slaughtering is prohibited in many states in India, lots of cows are being butchered everyday illegally. We need to try our best to act against this. Though individuals can not do much, we can always support those organizations working against cow slaughtering.

Here is a chance for you to help old and weak cows. Shri Kamadhenu Gosamrakshana Kendra, a registered charitable body, is dedicated for protection and welfare of weak and old cows, providing them all comforts and a chance to have a peaceful life. Join us and help us to propagate Indian Culture and heritage. With the help and support of each one of you, we would be able to propagate basic value of Indian culture.

Our sincere request with all of you is to support and help the GoSamrakshana Kendra by propagating the message of cow protection among your friends and colleagues. That itself would be a great worship to GOD.

The Kendra is already sheltering and taking care of more than 30 cows, but still a lot to be done. A regular clinical facility is to be established and a permanent fund is to be set up to feed and take care of cows.

PROJECT DETAILS

In order to prevent merciless butchering of old and helpless cows, we have taken up the challenge to establish 'SHRI KAMADHENU GOSAMRAKSHANA KENDRA', for protection and welfare of such cows. This center is established in Hoovinakere, the holy birth place of Shri Guru Vadiraja, 25 miles from the famous pilgrimage place UDUPI in Karnataka. In this place, right on N.H 17, it is planned to establish all facilities to take care of 100 cows. The arrangements include Goshala - sheds for cows, clinical facility, workers quarters, store room, Napier grass cultivation, water storage and food storage facilities etc..

The estimated project cost is 25 Lacs. Kendra is a charitable body and presently not receiving any aid from any other institutions. The project is to be realized by the support and help of you people who love our culture and heritage. We hope that your love for cows and your respect towards our cultural values will definitely support us in realizing our goal.

We are happy to inform you that with the limited support and resources, we are already taking care of more than thirty cows. As you can see, this project needs continuous resources to take care and feed these cows. The hard fact is that Kendra incurs recurring expenses but no income. That makes it highly difficult to think of long term goals. We need to establish a permanent fund to run the Kendra perpetually. We have some scheme for the benefit of donors.

1. Go Dhama Seva: Building for 10 cows : Rs 1.00 Lac
2. Ganga Seva: Water supply arrangement: Rs 0.5 Lac
3. Clinical Facilities : Rs 0.25 Lac
4. Food storage facility : Rs 0.15 Lac
5. Life long adoption of one cow: Rs 0.10 Lac

Apart from this we have other small schemes also for interested people. You may donate towards daily expenses of the Kendra or you can adopt one cow for its life time. You may donate for feeding the cows on your birth day or your dear one's birthday. You may pay towards one week or one month clinical expenses or food expenses. You can participate in any way you wish.

We hope that you are fully convinced with this noble cause. Please join hands with us to make this project successful. You may support us as 'noble patrons' by donating Rs 10,000 or as 'patrons' by donating Rs 5,000. We also welcome any kind of help and support from you in propagating this message.

Your donations may be made to 'Shri Kamadhenu Gosamrakshana Kendra, Hoovinakere' by cheque, draft, money order or any other means. You may donate in terms of medicine, food items or other useful items to the Kendra.

Devotees in US may kindly avail IRS tax benefit, by making their donation to "SATHKARYA", with the memo "Gosamrakshana Kendra". You may send your donation to the US address given below.
