States' Use of Capital Punishment
- Well over 75% of the states in this country approve of the use of the death penalty and approve of it as a use of punishment for crime.
- The states that do not use the penalty are found in the northern most part of the country. The entire south and west find it to be useful and they advocate its use.

- The most recent polls show that rates have risen to over 75% mirroring the number of states that use capital punishment.
- Many people believe that the use of the death penalty
will be a deterrent of crime in the future
